Greatsword Ranger?
So since this game first started I’ve wanted to play a greatsword Ranger, in dungeons. So, of course, I tried it. Buuuuuuut it didn’t go all that well. So I just went to my number 2 choice, which was a spirit based, healing and buffing Ranger. That has actually worked very well for me, but I would love to try the greatsword again.
Are there any viable greatsword builds at this time, or should I just reroll to another class with a greatsword?
You can try my GS build.

I use it for sPvP because I enjoy the GS playstyle. I find it fairly effective. If you use it mainly for PvE, you can swap SoR for anything you like really. Just remember when using GS, proper time of the 4&5 abilities makes a world of difference.
I’ve been using this guide as inspiration and have been having pretty great results:

I’m using this one for dungeons: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMIQJARVjEVR2JWGWs2Bg1DCDcQmiDR0pAVPvYlSkA;TkAg0CnoqxUjoGbNuak1MoA

I just started a GS ranger build for dungeons. Ran a few today and was up in the front lines doing just fine. All aspects need to be considered, Gear/Runes/Traits/Skills, all very important.
80’s – Necro/War/Ele/Guard
yeah you can’t really go pure offence with the GS i have tried and it does ok on certain mobs but if its dungeons or champions or anything like that i would not bother you would need to spec into more of a defensive build.
GS is lacking. It has some burst actually, but in the long run it deals too little dmg. You are better off spamming conditions again with axe torch and a SB.
Greatsword is kinda lacking IMO. It doesn’t have good burst, especially when you compare to true melee classes. And you wouldn’t want to use it when you’re condition built, because the 2nd ability only gives 3 stacks of bleed (lots of other better weapon options). So the way to play it would be to go defensive for survivability and play to the strengths of ability 4 and 5.
