For all the Rangers out there that use a Greatsword as their main weapon, which class is it most effective against? Besides running away from fights, I tried it out and couldn’t find any situation to where it was useful.

if you think about gs as a defensive weapon then, for every single 1v1 fight block is awesome, extra bleed is good, stun.
But if you are thinking about ranger gs as warrior gs for dmg, just no.

Don’t forget the leap so is especially good at catching up to high mobility classes of just being awesome to move about..

i like it for thieves – block their burst, knockdown, and stun = bad day for thieves

not to mention the aoe attack you can swing around with wildly when they stealth XD

It’s probably the best weapon we have against a stealth thief. It has a very wide arc so it’s pretty easy to hit a stealthed thief with it. Plus the evade on the third attack can cause you to evade the backstab sometimes.

The thing I like most about it is that unlike a sword I can be relatively stationary. The less I move the less my opponent moves. The less my opponent moves the more my pet bites them.

Disclaimer: I’m in no way saying the greatsword is ‘great’ or even ‘good’. It has it’s uses but could really use a damage buff of ~20% or more across the board.
