Hiya, I main Thief in WvW, but I main Ranger in sPvP. I’ve seen a lot of builds around, from all of the classes, including the ranger, that are all similar and utilize similar weapon loadouts. (Is that what we call them, loadouts? Sounds more like a FPS thing..)
So, anyway, tangent aside, no seriously it’s done, but if you want to read it, just look up, I have a build here that I like to sue that is a modification of the Trap build. That doesn’t use sword/dagger.
(brb as I make it because I love being unprepared)
Back, I was trying to decide which site to use because that’s a thing people care about (?) And I went with gw2skills because it’s UI is pretty… but you have to copy and paste the link, usually.

Greatsword? AND only two traps? Hah, no. Wait! D; You never even let me finish =QQ= !
PROOOOOOOOOooooos of a Greatsword:
+An evade that’s not on a Cool Down.
-Sword/Dagger has two evades, but you can’t spam those.
A heavy hitting, about 2k with this build, burst attack that applies bleeds.
+A Rush, a freaking rush, that is on a short CD and is a LOT more easy to handle compared to the ‘mobility’ skill on Sword.
+A block. “But it only blocks one att-” I’ma let you finish, but Greatsword block can block more than one attack. Also, a knockback that can get people off points. (idk if this is a bug, but it happens)
+And another Stun/Daze to combo nicely with your Shortbow.
“Woaaaahhhh, I never knew this D:” — Yeah, I usually blow people’s minds.

Anyway, let’s talk about the build, it is noticeably different from the standard trap build.
I took away the 30 points into Wilderness Survival. I thought they had too many points and I had to take them for myself and then lose them later to another trait line and eventually came into debt because I don’t have nay more trait points. (Link this to governments at your leisure)..
We can take away the points because we get back out toughness from the Runes/Amulet/Gem we use. Which make up for the toughness you lose. #yolo
I put them into Marksmanship because Condition Duration > Condition Damage. Also, that power makes Greatsword skill #2 hurt. The important trait in this line is XI. Take no damage for 6 seconds? That doesn’t hinder my ability to dish out damage? Yes please.
For the traits in Skirmishing, I took II because we don’t use Spike Trap because you get enough bleeds from that trait and GS/SB.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, this build is a Frankenstein of Powerbow builds and Trap builds with tank-ability. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YEAH.
This build is for a sPvP, hotjoin, pubstomp, fun. If you want a version of this build for tournaments, follow this link.

If you use Sword/Dagger, continue to do so if you like it, but Greatsword doesn’t make you a Melee Ranger Huntard. It’s a VERY viable. If you have any questions just ask. I’d rather go over my Sigil/Rune choice another time. Kinda bored writing this now; I think I might get some ice cream or something. Make the day a bit more awesome, as if it could get anymore awesome when you’re me. Right? RIIIGHT? :D
( I made it all ranty/silly so you have a hell of time reading it and not some boring post <3)
