Guild Wars 2

Im new to GW2 so I apologize if I ask anything overly repetitive , Ive been told GW2 is not like other mmorpgs due to the fact it has many different builds linked with professions , such as rangers using melee weapons despite the common belief that they only use bows. So I’d like to get some guidance on a melee ranger or survivalist rangers in terms viable/ difficultly in pve and dungeons , pvp and WvW is not as important to me currently , ive always preferred pve content in any game.
