All I really do in GW2 is WvW, I get my kicks from solo roaming on my D/D Ele and finding 1v1’s or 1vs many fights. I fight a lot of different professions and have varying opinions on which professions provide me with the toughest fights. This is not a direct flame against the ranger community, but…are rangers either:

a) Woefully underpowered in the context of WvW.
or
b) Played by “bad” players.

Rangers in my opinion give me the least trouble to fight against. Now I have never played a ranger so I don’t understand what the problems might be. But coming from the perspective of someone who fights a lot of rangers, I think they need buffing or something. Not sure what it is, but they need fixing in some way shape or form. Now I’m not trying to sound arrogant, or saying i’m the best player in the world, I’m just coming from the perspective of someone who fights rangers and whishes’ that they were more of a challenge to fight against, basically I just feel they need a hell of a rework or buff, unless every ranger I fight against is just a bad player, which I honestly do not think is the case.

I’m not a great PvP’er, I’d be the first to admit that. I have my main which is a level 80 ranger and an alt which is a level 60 thief. I can normally last longer in WvW on my thief then I can with my ranger, and that’s that I hate, let me emphasize that, I HATE melee weapon combat. I have played my ranger more in WvW but have more kills on my thief. The thief I have also has lots of ‘oh kitten cards’ to escape trouble unlike my ranger does, so maybe this may be the reason why. A ranger is viable in WvW, however, if your good in pvp then you shouldn’t have to much trouble but you would probably wreck more havoc with another class. I’m not saying that they are bad, but they are far from the best as well.

There is much to improve when it comes to Rangers and PvP but yes we are underpowered in Wv3. There are many good builds but they are mostly DoT builds compared to the vast amount of high burst builds employed by the more popular classes i.e Thief, Mes, Ele, War. In PvE i can out kill a Thief if everything goes right but that is rare and hard to do. I have no time staying alive in Wv3 but at most all I can do is annoy players or hit cheap kill shots when they are almost dead, not that I’m saying that I’m the best Ranger ever but I would say that I am far from the worst in both PvE and Wv3.

Your statement may be honest, but not accurate at all.
Fighting a lot of rangers doesn’t mean anything, it means that either your build is great against rangers, these rangers were upgraded lvls 80, they had bad builds…they were bad rangers, etc.

It’s not just “either they are bad or they are underpowered”, there are a lot of variations. Honestly, eles are either unkillable or very easy depending on the build you/they use.

Rangers don’t WvW well.
They are good at small skirmishes, but bad as fights get larger.

2-3 solid specs
Very solid short of aiming to play in a top tier PvP team.

I love my ranger. I really dont have a problem in pvp as a whole. I roam alot in wvw and take out supply camps solo(me and my pet). I tend to use a torch which present a problem. In a 1vs1 when things are going my way my opponent sometimes get a way. Even with my swiftness buff its seem enemy still are able to out run me. Even when i am running a zerg I always seem to be a straggler.

I Dont have a problem keeping my pet alive i switch them often for the quickness buff.

The main issues with ranger can be mostly over come. I dont enjoy playing other class.
I will say I dont play my ranger as I had imaged I would. But it is still fun. So for me the biggest ploblem is the lack of speed. Two ranger using warhors can keep the swiftness up but it seems as though its not fast enough even with the signet.
