Happiness' Ranger tPvP video
Looks good. Can we get a direct link to the build? The forum link in the youtube video isn’t working.
Oh sure, http://en.gw2codex.com/build/15471-condition-shortbow-pvp
I copy and pasted the guide from the forum into the comments section
Edit: Oh and thank you
Good use of the elite spirit.
You should probably use your warhorn more, though. At the very least you could just have it equipped at the start of the fight instead of your bow and just use Call of the Wild and switch immediately so you can fight with fury and swiftness boons.
I find Hunter’s Call tends to be a great bit of psychological warfare, too. Even though it doesn’t really do that much damage, especially with a condition build, it’s got a very obvious graphical effect and it looks dangerous. Many players will waste all their endurance evading it, which is very advantageous to the ranger. (I’m sure it’ll eventually stop working, but for now it’s hilarious.)

Good points Stice, the warhorn is extremely valuable. Although, at least for myself, i tend to save birds (hunters call) when i have already switched to sword/horn because it doesnt do as much damage as crossfire (shortbow auto atk) because my build is based around conditions. As much fun as it is to play with other people’s minds, i do my best to assume other players are at their A game as well as to better improve my performance.
Also Call of the Wild is usually on cooldown (i may have made an error in the video idk) because i use it A LOT to roam around the map.
Thanks for the tip
Okay. good build and I liked your vid. Okay a few tips for my fellow ranger though… just general pvp stuff.
- You don’t use ‘2’ as much as you can. It’s a really great skill that spreads poison so you outa use it as much as possible. For example if the thief goes into his little invisi-shack, you can hit em with 2.
- Your ‘3’ usage seems kind of random. I would have liked to see some matchup against warriors. With all the bull’s charge builds nowadays it would be sweet to see you dodge using 3.
- Consider putting ‘5’ into your qz’s attack rotation. Probably 1-2 secs in so you can prevent him from rolling out of your main spike. You’re not using a spider so its already difficult for snare control.
- Consider binding ‘look back’ Your cam control is not bad but you need full surveilance in this game as much as possible.
*Like the other guy said, use the warhorn. It gives you good buffs.
The only thing I dont like about conditioning build is that on an upper level people always bring tons of condition removal, mainly to get rid of snares. Me for example carry the signet that transfers all condition to my pet. So its fairly easy to decrease damage from these spikes. I know build wars can be too theorized… but I would definitely try out other alternatives as your backup build.
Nice video and good job. It’s not to difficult to make a highlight reel though. Half of the video consisted of you using your elite to res yourself. Overgrowth would be a much better choice and provide your team a lot more support.
Thanks for the tips guys!
@Qian: yeah I do missclick 3 a lot trying to hit other buttons and my 2 usage could be a bit better. But I try to save my 5 to interrupt things I see coming like heals/ the supply crate drop from the first clip
And ATM my back up build is a rather boring point defense build because there isn’t a whole lot of room for rangers in tPvP atm :/ I’ll look into making something else for my next video
@Midenoche: you’re right the roots are really good, but from my experience good players have like a zillion ways to get out of them plus killing the roots isn’t that hard. That’s why I generally use spirit because the healing and the Rez on myself and my teammates is more guaranteed.
But yeah I’ll spend more getting clips so it isn’t 99% spirit rezzing and more about other things ranger can do
Howdy. Not sure if you played GW1 but rangers will always have their place. Ranger has no real weakness. There’s not one class in this game that really anti-builds the ranger. So that alone is a big reason why rangers is one of the best split classes. Unlike GW1, splits aren’t that common nowadays simply because its a point holding game now and ranger’s escape utility is far inferior to GW1’s ranger. But I think as the game progresses and more creative strats are being executed you will see a lot more rangers in competitive field.
I sure hope so! XD
