I was getting my Daily in PVP and I had a thief on me…I had a Drake hound (Scooby Doom) out
So I hit the thief with a hilt bash on GS he purged it and blipped away. And shows up full health a few hundred units away. So I pop signet of the Wild and sent hound on him with sic em
Well lol the hound was enlarged, had opening strike and a moment of clarity with sickem up…dog went a few feet and leaped at thief and hit him for 17.5K and insta gibbed him. I have raw video footage but no still. Going to post it when time allows.
I laughed so hard I had tears as the thief cried in Map chat both about the damage and not being able to stealth!
100% to dead, no need to stomp =D

I haven’t gone through the footage yet but this is just one of 5-6 over 15K my pet has hit with tonight. Getting a lot of Tears in Map =D
If I got one shot by a ranger pet, regardless of current buffs, I would stand up IRL and take a bow.
The best thing about it is you can effectively set it up for the opening round of most fights, assuming of course they don’t manage to avoid that opening Hilt Bash. Once combat has begun its hard to line all up again but that first Hit is a Biggie
The Pet gets the opening strike auto crit…so if you pop enlarge signet and sickem even without a Hilt bash (MoC) it’s still over10K. But I figure I get the big hit off well over 50% of the time to open. Combined with the Hilt Bash and Maul damage it pretty kitten damage for the opening 3-4 seconds. Easily eclipsing 20K between me and the Pet.
I have seen the Drake drop 2-3 damaged people on a single tail swipe <3
Hahaha that’s amazing. Our pets are actually pretty terrifying. I can’t imagine if all the changes people propose for them actually got applied… There’s no way. Lol!

Well, they are probably the glassiest thing in the game, surely for balance they need a huge damage output right? =P
Reminds me of the first fight I had with a thief after the major trait changes. Dude jumped me but I managed to counterstrike the backstab and get a few auto attacks off. He stealthed but my river drake used tail swipe. When the thief reappeared he had only 1-2K HP left. I swooped into a Hilt Bash. He went down before I hit Maul.
He was not amused by how hard my pet had hit him.

You don’t have to land Hilt Bash (and you don’t need MoC) to get the dmg bonus for the pet. You can even precast HB into the air before a fight, the pet will get the “Attack of Opportunity” buff for 20 sec.
I’m currently running a similar build in WvW (MM/NM/BM with GS and A/D) and my drakes can easily oneshot glassy opponents (18-20k tailswipe is not rare, a zerk ele got hit for 24k ). It is far from op though, because tailswipe misses 99% against moving targets and sometimes the drake just wastes all those nice dmg modifiers on an autoattack (which still hits for 5-6k ^^).
