Well, this is quite old, spotted it sometime later, after GW2 was released.

Hawks and other animals that use the same model, have their folded wing animations messed up. Their wings don’t fold correctly and the ends of their wings then clip into the ground.

It’s a small detail that is visible when the pet is standing on ground and not moving.

Quite easy to see if one has ranger and all birds unlocked, when comparing to eagle, raven and snow owl, which don’t have same way folded wings.

Your weapon also sticks through the ground when it’s sheathed. And greatswords go straight through your backpack. GW2 is no stranger to clipping problems.
