I only watched few bits of the stream but read the notes on the forums, not sure if I missed it or if it wasn’t mentioned, but what category was Healing Spring put in?

Traps.

You set the trap down, and it has the 0.5 second arming time.

After that, it can be triggered by you or an ally that is under full health (we think), after which it’ll do it’s thing. It will also have it’s recharged reduced if you have the trap trait, and work with things like runes of the trapper.

It should be possible to set one down in advance (i.e. defending a node), to potentially set off consecutive healing springs.

Not sure if pets or minions and such running over it can trigger the trap.

They didn’t cover it much, pretty much everything Yamsandjams said is all they covered with it. No mention of allied creatures tripping it. The stream died not long after because Twitch is garbage and couldn’t handle all the E3 traffic

Do you get the healing when you PLACE the trap and the waterfield at the triggering?
Or does the initial healing only works when triggering the trap?

Triggering. It was mentioned you could place it while you were at full health (like on a PvP point) and wait for someone to come smack you before you trigger it.

Yep, that way you could set it as some kind of fall back measure, and then have it again when it comes back off cooldown.

So there will now be a bit of delay before you can heal yourself due to the arming time, but you can utilize it in a way that could potentially make it more effective from a defensive perspective.

Personally, I think it could give rangers a much stronger use in zergs. Say you had like 5 rangers plant their healing springs before an engagement. Then the zerg can retreat back to them, automatically get the water fields to spawn, blast them as needed as well as get healed and clean condis, then go back in. Eles could then save their water fields for mid-engagement, or when you didn’t have time to set up the healing springs.

Oddly enough, healing spring will also synergize excellently with trapper runes. Since it doesn’t deal damage, it’s a guaranteed stealth. Although we’re still not sure if the runes trigger on trap placement or on trap arming.

It doesn’t really matter, you will either stealth immediately after HS, or .5 seconds later.

Nice point about the WvW zerg use.

I’m not sure how I feel about Healing Spring becoming a trap.

On the one hand, it benefits from the new trap trait.

On the other hand, the .5 second arming time means no more instant heal, and not triggering at full health means no more on demand condition removal/water field.

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos

Well the waterfield can be triggered by allies, and presumably you don’t want to blast a water field when everyone is at full health.

The 1 second delay on the heal effect is going to be sort of brutal for roaming/PvP though. I mean I guess we learned to deal with it for troll unguent, it will just take some getting used to.
