Help! Crafting ascended armor/weapons.
You’re going to need absolutely enormous amounts of iron, platinum, mithril, and soft, seasoned, hard, and elder wood. The sheer volume is a bigger barrier than the account-bound salvage materials, IMO.

I’m assuming that you mean I’ll need all of those materials to get my skills up. But I’ve already maxed my skills (they’re all at 500). All I need at this point is the ascended materials. And the only thing that seems to be coming easy is bloodstone dust. Is there any zone or instance that’s especially good for farming ascended materials?

The most time consuming part is to craft those items you need for ascended weapon and armor. You can only craft one piece each 24 hour. Those mats and item which are account bound is what is making crafting ascended armor and weapon talking time.
There are also some consumables which you only can craft (as those also are account bound). All in all 500 on crafting make you less depending on market and there are some benefits like you don’t have to do scavenger hunt for legendary weapons or armor.
Doing map completion will give you most mats you need, but you still want to buy some mats you might lack.
Since I bought in gem store 250 more stacking for mats I can gather more before I start to sell to clear inventory space. I also bought more bank space as there are some item that you can’t store in your material inventory. You can access both when you are at a craft station. More space for mats save you a lot of hassle with inventory management.

Do you need emperial fragments/dragonite ore? In that case Ember Bay and Bitterfrost frintier is what you need. Harvesting petrified wood/winterberries will give you some of these materials.
Lake Doric and Bloodstone fen are good for farming bloodstone dust, or you can just run some meta maps (AB, Silverwastes) and open the bags from there.

No, you need it for the ascended crafting too. A single deldrimor steel ingot contains 50 mithril ingots, 20 iron ingots, 10 steel ingots, and 20 darksteel ingots, and multiple deldrimor steel goes into most weapon bodies and always into the dowel for the inscription. Same with spiritwood. So you should save your vanilla mats or save up some gold.

Ya people are not understanding you as,
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pile_of_Bloodstone_Dust
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Empyreal_Fragment
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dragonite_Ore
are materials that if you play enough you end up throwing away stacks or finding the machines that transform it into generic loot. They forget that if you are just getting into the ascended crafting you wont have very much upfront.
-bloodstone dust is mainly gotten from champion mobs,
-empyreal fragments are from random loot chests you find in the world like jumping puzzles and also dungeons and wvw camp lord npcs.
-dragonite you find from world bosses and keep lords in wvw.
There are other sources but these are the primary ones.
Ascended Materials:
Vision Crystal is the only thing that needs Bloodstone Bricks(From Dust), Empyreal Stars(From Fragments), and Dragonite Ingots (From Ore)
Deldrimor Steel requires Mithrilium (From Mithril), Iron, Steel, and Darksteel ingots.
Elonian Leather requires Elonian Cord(From Thick Leather), Coarse, Rugged, and Thin leather squares.
Spiritwood Planks requires Spiritwood Residue(Made from Elder Wood), Hard, Seasoned, and Soft wood planks.
Damask requires Silk Weaving Thread (From bolts of Silk), and Cotton, Linen, and Wool.
Please don’t forget to do your daily gated material for this. Unless you plan on buying stuff items like Damask or Spiritwood have limits, or gates, on how many can be made in 24 hours (1). Also you might need other things with said limits.
You will also run into this again down the road when trying for a legendary…
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
For Empyreal fragments and Dragonite Ore, the Bitterfrost map is probably the best. Dragonite ore from winterberry nodes farming and Empyreal fragments from chest opening. Those chests respawns after each storm(once per hour ?) and winterberry nodes can be farmed once per day, but you can collect them multiple times with multiple characters.
Also, from those Chapions (9 Champs each hour), you will have rare weapons/gear for salvage to Globs of ectoplasm.
Don’t be affraid, you will have plenty of Dragonite ore and Empyreal fragments after couple of hours of playing, because there is a lot of chests in Bitterfrost.
The main proble with Ascened gear is the daily time gate on those Bolts of Damasc, Elonian Leather squares, Spiritwood planks and Deldrimore ingots subparts.
I am doing the Bitterfrost map daily on my 4 characters (approx. 2 hours of playing), firstly run around the map do some quests and loot all chests and after that, second run around map to harvest winterberry nodes. With this, I daily salvage more or less enough blue/green/yellow weapons/armors to materials to make all four Ascended sub-components before I quit the game. I already have all my characters in Ascended gear, but I am doing this daily routine just to have those Ascended mats in bank, because I am sure that I will need more Asc. gear in future.
Also, you do not need to craft directly Yassith Viper Armor. It is much cheaper to craft for example Berserker (Zojja’s armor) and change the stats in the Mystic forge (look at Wiki how to do that).

Hey, I wanted to thank everyone for their great suggestions! By the way… my answer was to farm chests in Silverwastes. The three crafting materials that I needed (obsidian shards, dragonite ore, and empyreal fragments) dropped so fast there that I had enough to complete my full armor set in two days.
For anybody in my same predicament, just go into the LFG panel and join those 30+ player central Tyria squads in the Silverwastes (as one possible solution).
