I’ve been doing a lot of solo longbow pve and wvw and I’m looking for a useful skill to round out my bar.

I currently run Sharpening stones, lightning reflexes, the speed signet(Forgot the name), vines or rampage for elite

Mostly for wvw, I like opening with stones into longbow 2, into longbow 4 into vines and then cc

How can I furthur this style? Are there any good flat damage abilities, Or would it be worth it to just run protect me?

Useful utilities largely depend on what traits and gear you are using, if we knew that, we would be in a better position to discuss options. Link it using http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/

Note- I’m unable to afford the armor listed, this is ideal and what I’m working towards currently.
Also debating between sigil of bursting vs sigil of earth

Quick Note since:

  • You are taking Keen Edge … which procs Sharpening Stone when you hit a target that is below 75% health … but it has a kitten ICD.
  • You are taking Sharpening Stone as a utility

Last I checked, if you use Sharpening Stone, it will put Keen Edge on its ICD. So, if you want to benefit more from both, you are better off not opening with Sharpening Stone and instead waiting for Keen Edge to proc its Sharpening Stone, use those 5 charges, and then use your Sharpening Stone utility.

Make sense?

I’m noticing that you have a complete lack of condition removal. If someone with a decent amount of condition duration applies just a few to you, they will be able to just sit back and watch you die.

Troll Unguent is a better heal right now, you just have to use it differently. I would not use a sigil of Bursting with only 400 odd condition damage mate and a sigil of Air would do better damage than earth. Also, take a look at Sinister gear over Rampager, it will do more damage.
Personally, I would be making these adjustments if I hadn’t already made the armor.
The utility skills are fine, pretty standard. They (and keen edge) will work better with SoTF though, so I included that for condi removal.
Like Sebrent said, just watch your usage of Sharpening Stone and Keen Edge’s proc at 75%.

I would rather keep sigil of strength, I like to think the build is centered around bleed pricing on criticals, and in order to do that, raise precision

I have shared anguish as well as lightning reflexes

Neither of these removes damaging conditions … Bleeding, Burning, Confusion, Poison, Torment.

If you are going to try for a hybrid build you might consider going all the way with it. Get some trapper runes, drop the knights trinkets and swap the utilities to traps.

Fair enough, but the idea is that 1, I’ve nuked them down before the condis get too big and 2, oak heart salve and my heal should slow it down at least

You are unlikely to quickly nuke down a condition build that is using Rabid, Apothecary, Dire, etc.. They are made for being able to take a beating and keep on going.

Take a look here:

I only invested 2 trait points to get +50% bleed duration and the bleeding from these is going to do 1,222 damage per auto-attack that hits you. This is before runes, sigils, food, oil/stone, and the remaining 12 trait points.

Heck, if they start with Longbow (Sword+Sword / Longbow is the classic Condi Warrior at the moment), you’re going to almost die from Fan of Fire and Pindown alone. If you dodge those, there’s still Riposte, Impale, and the Auto-attacks.

I think a Condi Scepter Elementalist could do you in with auto-attacks given that they can cleanse conditions just fine, have some seconds of invulnerability and reflection, and can be 100% immune to critical hits while in Earth attunement.

A condition Ranger will also be a very hard fight for you.

Even with one condition removal, you’ll be hard-pressed as most condition builds are made by people that agree with me that re-application is king. It makes your lack of cleanses horribly painful because you can’t actively counter every application and each application is going to do multiple thousands of damage.

This is all also ignoring that after a single Lightning Reflex that you’re going to be in trouble when it comes to Cripple, Chill, and Immobilize.

No they don’t their CD is independant of eachother, the only thing to think of is to not overwrite keen edge by accident with sharpening stones.

What would you recommend, Pure power?
I can always mess with gear, that’s not set in stone- but I am open to feedback

Power versus Condition versus Hybrid is up to you and the weapons you prefer.

As it is, a single condition load is going to kill you with nothing you can do about it. Some condition builds will be able to kill you with a few auto-attacks before simply backing off and watching you die to their conditions.

You can survive like this … Mesmers often do … but it means that a single slip up against a condition build is going to mean death. It also means that you are going to have one heck of a time fighting against tanky condition builds. Mesmers have an advantage over you when facing such builds in that they can often strip boons so can remove regen, protection, etc. from tanky condition builds. As a Ranger, you’re stuck just dealing with those.
