Since it’s looking like the bleeding cap is going away in HoT (hopefully), anyone else thinking that a bleed build with the short bow could potentially be amazing in a lot of PvE situations?

I’m no PvE expert, but my understanding on PvE is that mobs tend to be wiped out pretty quickly meaning damage over time attacks (conditions) are still unlikely to be as effective, even without a stack limit.

Still, it’s certainly possible in a full bleed build to get Crossfires’ bleeds to last 6+ seconds and tick for a good 170+ each.. meaning each attack is doing around 1100 damage.

To me this still sounds like a lot less than a berserker build would be doing, and taking 6 seconds to do it… But like I said, I know nothing about PvE so I am probably over simplifying it^^

Maybe Rampagers could work… Idk.

It wouldn’t make much difference on trash mobs, yes, but the potential is really with boss fights, particularly high hp ones.

I had not heard that HOT might address bleed caps – just did a search and I see the post by Jon Peters. SO good to see them finally looking at this, not just from a ranger perspective, but from the perspective of many classes. Would sure be nice to see something compete with the berserker only meta…

I don’t think the devs have spoken directly on it, but people in the beta have screen capped he Wyvern fight where the boss has upwards of 100 bleeds. Check the HoT forums for more on that.

I really like the SB and bleed builds, its great fun in pvp/wvw, but I also think it could do with some tweeks.
Crossfire really needs to have the flanking requirement removed. I’d love it if the bleed was changed from 1 stack for 3s to 2 stacks for 2s and if Concussion Shot added X stacks of Torment for Xs on interrupt.

i like the condi ranger now. I find the high toughest of characters tends to make power classes less effective, whereas my condis are doing full damage until cleared. but you can lure out some condi clear before reapplying the real condi damage.

Can SB even keep 25 stacks up? I don’t play it enough to know. I can’t imagine there are many builds out there that can maintain 25 stacks. Off the top of my head, staff mesmer, scepter necro, sword war, and SB ranger are the only ones even close.(?)

For dungeons, I would make an educated guess you don’t get enough out of condis unless you have like 50 bleed stacks, which means 2 or 3 condi players, which is not as good as five berserker.

Even if it could keep 25 stacks it’d still be significantly behind a proper berk power spec. And it will stay that way until condi damage benefits from vulnerability.
