did anyone notice that shortbow on a male is different than shortbow on a female.
males lean into thier bow liek they aiming

females lean away from their bow like they 1. got a stick up their kitten and 2. like the bow is the last thing in the world they want to be near. maybe it smells…

(the pictures are to show what i mean for thsoe of you who saying "wth am i talking about, the animations are different?)

i want to lean into my bow =( not look like a Lord of the rings elf whose bow smells and so i leaning away…

ok..maybe that current female one works for longbow….but short bow? everyone should be leaning into it because the bow is small and leaning away from it is going to send arrows wildly away

so solution, and the reason i posting this is to ask Anet to make males and females hold longbow like current female, straight back and not leaning because the bow is big, so you going to need distance to aim.

and make shortbows like current male, after all you need ot lean forward to aim a bow thats short, if you lean back with a shortbow(like current female bow animation) the arrow is going to miss.

anyone else agree? disagree? (if you disagree i want 3 reasons why, and make them good ones)

1. too much coding( having to redo all animations)
2. its not needed many other things are.. like lacking pvp features
3. its a selfish change to ask for.. just because you prefer the male version

It should be easy to fix this for anet. Just remove the animation that is special for the shortbow. Why is it there in the first place.

1. not that much coding(trust me)
2. alot of things needed, but since Anet isnt doing them here is an alternative ot show them doing something
3. selfish it might be it woudl be SOMETHING new.

how do you mean special.. they have to code animation for each weapon.. to each different race so thats alot of animations to supposedly fix for very little return other than vanity

where as were missing so many other features lacking in pvp like dueling (creats problems in spvp servers) lack of pvp modes ect

I rather their time was spent on gameplay updates

not i like the animation on this set up of char race/proff/gender can you change for me.. kind of updates.. but thats just me..

after all come on =/ look at other races racial armor, you cant preview it cause you cant wear it so on.

I agree. It’s the male animations that would need to change, not the female ones. The female has a more natural ‘medieval archer’ style to it whilst the male seems to have a very impractical ‘fantasy ninja’ version.

Try playing GW1. The animations were completely different based on your gender. The female even held her bow horizontally.

The OP clearly has never fired a bow in real life; and if they did, they didn’t qualify for any tournaments.

The way the female holds her bow is, in fact, a proper way to hold a bow. The male version is far from it.

What about people who prefur the backwards lean? Not everyone has the same opinions on things

Lol was about to post this, the female aside from the slight leaning has a much better form than the male. The males form really is only used when firing a very powerful bow with heavy draw weight such as a warbow, I guess it works for longbow but not really since longbow hits like a kitten so I cant justify it being a warbow.

Has nothing to do with medieval at all. Its the archery stance taught in current schools today as well. She is leaning a bit too far back instead of standing up straight, but kittenes be crazy, we all know this. While I do think medieval archers were far superior in terms of skill than our current olympian archers, they both have the same form.

Yeah i’m with everyone else. The female one looks better and is more accurate.

The male one looks like he’s from the Ginyu Force.

It seems to be a bit of a theme with this game. At least with humans anyway. It’s like how the female greatsword stance is actually a style, but the male one isn’t.

Well, as much as i hate the male animations, i’ve noticed time and time again my sylvari cycles through 2 bow animations, one of them (the least common) is the one in the picture above, the second is a normal (proper) bow shooting technique.

I certainly would rather they just remove the stupid animation from the cycle and let me keep the main one.

Yea I dont get where they came up with 2 animation cycles for a bow shot but that isnt how it should be.

Main reason for me naming it ‘medieval archer’ was just as an example because the stance looked nearly identical to the one I saw on paintings and in drawings. Reason I didn’t say ‘olympian archer’ or ‘current stance’ was because in my opinion that’s just a mockery of archery nowadays with all their counterbalanced iron-sight click-a-button bows.

I agree however that even if the female seems to tip a little into the hips that stance would feel more comfortable, balanced and has the best potential to actually hit something as she can aim along the entire shaft. The male animation if performed by a real archer would result in having a very unbalanced and unfomfortable stance (‘bad form’) and leaning into the bow would mean that he probably wouldn’t be as accurate in firing it either. Hence my description of ‘fantasy ninja’ LOL.
