The idea is great but the execution is just too finicky and difficult.

How could it work better as a mechanic?

Having to target the farthest away character is a pain in the rump.

Coders welcome. I couldn’t begin to give you a good idea on the mechanic except to say it doesn’t work well.

How do you determine what is in a line? At the point in which the shot is taken? When it “travels”? I get the idea behind it, but how do you actually do the calculation given all the movement?

I find it works fine, the biggest problem with piercing arrows is the # of good traits in Marksmanship :|

You dont need to target the furthest away character, it does help, but really its more about positioning than anything…

The problem with piercing arrow is the nature of arrows. Arrows arc. Unlike bullets which fire in a straight line your arrows are lobbed, so even if they’re in a straight line they can miss things if those things don’t fall properly in the line of the arc.

I think the best way to fix the feature would be to lower the hitbox on some creatures. There are many creature that when I attack them I shoot up at them, which causes my arrow to fly well over the heads of things behind them, completely defeating the purpose to having the trait at all. If I always fired my arrows at if I were shooting at someone at the end of my range, which also along the tilt of the ground it would be more likely that my arrows would hit all intended targets.

also i finded this “piercing arrows” really disappointing… because if you are over a cliff, or simply over your enemy (or group of enemies) you arrows will touch ground before to hit evething (except first target of course).
so remember that
piercing arrows > eagle eye only if we hit 2 more enemies
but it also requires a great positioning ability… and so you waste precious seconds

is still 2+ sec for positioning and piercing arrows better than eagle eye?
short answer?
pve: yes if you are at range and at same weight of mobs
pvp: no, you have to run, roll and jump… so you basically don’t care to get a good position and hit 2 enemies… also against a zerg

I’d like to see if they can fix the arrow deflection when it hits a target. If you haven’t ever noticed, fire at a target with this trait while circle strafing around them. You will notice that the arrows actually bend when they hit the target (they do not pierce straight through form the angle it was shot, instead it almost appears that they deflect based on your current angle at impact). It is easy to replicate, but sometimes the behavior is awkward so finding out exactly what it is doing is difficult. Otherwise, I like how it is currently implemented.
