Guild Wars 2

Devs try GvG against some of top wvw guilds out there? 10+ per side(10v10, 15v15, 20v20, 25v25-just some usual formats). Im sure anet can make team of 10+ players(can they?!- i realy dont know). Im curious how many/if any rangers would be in anet team, im sure there will be 0 in guild faceing them. Maybe then they adress ranger uslesness in wvw.

In my opinion: Versatility > One-task only

We can bring to WvW:
1) Insane ranged dmg
2) Awesome support (waterfield, spirits)
3) Solo roaming
4) CC (by skills and from pet)
5) …

As mentioned: We can’t bring this all at the same time, you’ll need to adapt your build.. But just wanted to state: We can bring something in WvW.. People that claim that a ranger is useless in WvW don’t have a good grasp on their profession: Experiment a bit more, mess with your traits, and you’ll see..

Its not useless, just not as strong in a large group as most classes.

Im fine with that, I hate the zerg. But some people prefer it.

Alright I may be pretty useless in a zerg, but I can flip sentries and camps, and I’ve yet to find a class that I struggle with in a 1v1 (except that little asura engie….ooooh).

Oh, and for the GvG spot as you are asking, maybe we don’t bring anything unique, but neither do engineers, we can both function the same (not to the same extent for us unfortunately) we can bring it all. I find ranger is an excellent class at locking people down, that thief picking on your ele? Just imobilise him for 20 seconds while you load conditions and swords to his face. We’re not the perfect warrior some people would like, but we’re diverse.

It might be best that you keep posts in their context, and not just randomly add quotes around and create your own story

I was replying to someone else with that post.. And if you should use your eyes and try reading from time to time, you’ll notice that the person asked me to give a short list of what a ranger adds to WvW !

Also, you in your initial post start complaining about GvG, and you end your post with “uselessness of the ranger in WvW”, so yeah: I took you up on that and started about ranger in WvW..

Oh, btw, no idea if you got the memo, but there is no official GvG in Guild Wars 2. So if you wanna see some nice GvG videos, try searching on Youtube for “Guild Wars 1 GvG”

GvG? What is this GvG?

See, I’ve played PvE, SPvP, TPvP, and WvW. I’ve run dungeons and participated in the living world, and I’ve even had my share of moments where the game was simply PvDoor.

But GvG isn’t in guild wars 2. That’s guild wars 1. What this game has is massive groups that spam AoE damage and buffs until opposing groups are dead, which is a far cry from GvG.

Point taken that Rangers lack some sort of group support that is desired in more organized groups, but using an argument that stems from an unofficial, player created game mode isn’t the best way to go about it, especially when that game mode can be so large that it lacks the individual breakdowns/face offs necessary in order to balance a game.

For instance, going back to Guild Wars 1, I could say my class is broken and needs to be buffed because I never win a Red Resign against a blue team. Therefore, all red players need a better buff, and my class particularly because every time my class is red, it’s impossible to win.

Same deal. When talking about an unofficial game mode, it means that players are basically playing the game in a way that the devs never had any real intention of the game being played, which means that they have absolutely no obligations to be balancing for it, because honestly, you could just be doing it wrong (to them).

I’ve seen a few Anet players across a few servers, but I’ve never seen them play a ranger. It’s always been a warrior or thief.
