How are you getting around in WvW?
Birds Quickening Screech, SoTH while running around only to swap it out before combat, Warhorn while running around too, Swoop, HS/ML.
Runes of the Trapper grant a short speed boost after dropping a trap. Resounding Timbre/Guard/HaO provide perma swiftness. Traveler’s Runes give a movement speed bonus.
I know there are a few more options, but those should get you started!
Yes, I just use Signet of the Hunt. I don’t even activate it.
An alternative is: superior rune of the traveller or Superior Rune of Speed for 25% movement speed.
You can get permanent swiftness (33%) quite easily with Resounding Timbre + Guard… or We Heal as One + Strength Of the Pack instead of Guard.
I also use Swoop on the greatsword a lot. I don’t have the cooldown reduction trait, but if I ran Beastmastery I would get it.
Others use Sword 2 for mobility but it requires turning around a lot.
Traveler Rune’s. There is no other option for me, since it frees up a slot + boon duration.
Resounding Timbre.
Thanks all. Feels like we got a little bit of the short end of the stick on movement traits also…just my opinion but as a Ranger I feel like we should have top tier movement at least out of combat.

I got a guild group of six to chase me from their garri, around bay, up past wurm, and through the NE camp yesterday. Swoop, LR, HS/ML, and RT. Oh and some sword 3 dagger 4 just to taunt them up close. They never had a chance.

We do. Swiftness is max movement speed in and our of combat, so being able to have it perma up from one trait is awesome. The fact we also get it on several other skills on demand means we can’t be stopped. Combined with a little immob clears we’re incredibly difficult to keep still. Then, as Fluff said, you toss on a GS or S and you can prance around the battlefield in complete control of the situation.
I don’t think sword 2 is useful for just running anymore. Try keeping up with someone with same speed. It just doesn’t happen.
Doing it in combat for large gap opener works still as it happens so suddenly it catches opponent off guard.
Just get used to swapping in/out soth.
Also if you stow pet before taking some fall dmg (or killing an ambient) you can get clarion bond trigger for swiftness.
Clarion Bond + Warhorn + Tail Wind + Bird Pet + Quickdraw lets you stack up something close to a minute of swiftness when you enter combat, which you can trigger easily on enemy creatures with LB.
Signet of the Hunt + Swoop works for me
This week? You should be riding in Golems…
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
I would kill for a trait that gave us the 25% speed I can’t think of a single trait I would want more for ranger, utilities are worth so much for us and I feel nearly every really good build we have also requires a specific rune to properly function, MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
I took clarion bond in WS and traited into skirmishing. I’ll shoot mosquitoes and rabbits then switch pets and weapons. Therefore, infinite swiftness. If there are no critters around I’ll peg a monster with Hunter’s Shot and recall my pet so i stay out of combat.
Also using pack runes for longer swiftness duration.

I’m getting around pretty Swiftly.
I’m running Resounding Timbre with Guard.
Stow pet
Shout
Swap out and use warhorn
Swap in GS and swoop
Jump off ledge to proc Clarion Bond
Repeat
You can stack swiftness permanently just by yourself while out of combat.
