How can i recover my dodge rolls?
vigor !?
it get nerfs to get vigor on ranger but we still can have a high vigor uptime
Ok, and how do i get that vigor going?
Depends on your build. I tend to think it is our traits that will help the most.
For me, the nature line just opened up and with that +boon duration.
That means that things like swapping shared anguish with vigorous renewal tends to work well. Primal reflexes isn’t bad for a more melee oriented ranger. 5 sec vigor on a 15 ICD.
Here is the thing. We always had the tools to get more dodges but there was never a reason to use any of the multiple traits. Precision and Wilderness survival vigor skills are in the Adept traits. Only in beastmaster do you pay master level 20 pts. But that is all allies.
What tends to happen is that you have bursts of endurance that are even more than what you had with just natural vigor but in return you lose some of the control over timing vs need of that endurance. Not too bad.
All of the traits are 100%. If you use sigil of energy it is only 50% and you will be swapping weapons at just the wrong time IMHO. It is an option I suppose for some builds. I would probably argue though if you didn’t want to trait that truffle and meat stew might really help with might stacking on the pet (assuming 15 in nature) as well as give you 40% endurance regen which at that point you basically are the same.
It just depends on your build and if you are playing for PvE or WvW.
I play mostly PVE and have a Boon/Tank/Ranger build: 0/0/30/30/10.
Will the food buff of 40% endurance regeneration stack with the endurance from trait? So i get 90% regeneration now and 65% regeneration on Dec/10?
If you run bm, bring lightning reflexes and vigor on pet swap.
Use a range weapon youl need to roll less.
BM: I want to present you my lovely jingle bear mia
If pet had voices: Mommy, I did it! :3
I use ranged weapons in both slots: Shortbow and Axe/Warhorn. And for some reason when doing harder content like champs and group events i get attacked most of the time and ran out of dodges fast. Dungeons also expend the dodge quota fast cause the many aoe traps and stuff.
So would i necessarily need to retrait to get vigor and is there a way to attain perma-vigor or seudo-perma vigor?
I dont want to dodge less, thats very boring and reminds me of another MMO im not going back to.
And for some reason when doing harder content like champs and group events i get attacked most of the time and ran out of dodges fast.
The more toughness you have, the more you get attacked.

Not true 100%-common myth, though, so I am not blaming you. A friend of mine in-game hated so much that his Thief got seemingly targeted on his squishy setup most of the time on Dungeons, and the one time I accompanied him my Warrior wasn’t full “zerk”, so by your numbers I should have drawn the agro 100% of the time.
Not using any toughness to avoid agro is just a forever perpetuated pseudo “fact”-some people use such “knowledge” to preach how much better offensive gear is, but it’s not based on reality-only ANet knows (if indeed they do! perhaps it’s random) how their enemy critters choose to pursue party members.
On subject, I will miss old Natural Vigor quite a bit. My plan is just to get used to 25% (keep using it for now to see how it works) and rely on my other good weapon dodges, though some builds will suffer more than others.
The problem with vigor is, all of the ranger’s vigor traits are terrible.
- Vigorous renewal provides 5 seconds of vigor every 20 seconds if you take Heal as One.
- Primal reflexes only gives you 5 seconds of vigor when you get hit, and only when you take a critical hit. I don’t know about you, but I try to avoid getting hit whenever possible.
- Vigorous training grants 5 seconds of vigor whenever you swap pets. If you’re forced to put a dead pet on cooldown, you’re suddenly without vigor for over 40 seconds. (requires swapping pets on cooldown for maximum effect)
Vigorous renewal and vigorous training are both somewhat decent, but they require you to invest more heavily in traitlines that you might not otherwise use. I feel like the change to natural vigor is going to reduce ranger’s build diversity even more, as rangers get pigeonholed into running beast mastery and wilderness survival for the vigor traits.

Isaiah Cartwright did a Ranger PvE guide in which he specifically says toughness/armor causes aggro. It’s at 2:54.
How exactly is that “pseudo-fact”?
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!

The GW2 Wiki on Aggro states:
“For a neutral (yellow outlined) NPC the player must attack first to gain its attention. The aggro table of a hostile NPC changes dynamically depending on a number of factors, in order of importance [citation needed] :
1. closest target to them
2. who is dealing damage
3. top damage dealers
4. who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor
5. others (see Tanking tactics below)
As a consequence, to lose aggro, the player moves to be further from the NPC than other players or allies and ceases all attacks. A typically effective Guild Wars 2 technique to lose aggro is to pull away from the hostile NPC, which can be quickly achieved by dodging or retreating away from the foe. "
Funny that the last sentence recommends dodging to remove aggro, that brings us up to the point: i need more dodges!
So far im leaning to just taking the 40% endurance regeneration food and lose 10% regeneration after Dec 10…bummer. I researched and the food apparently doesnt stack with the natural vigor boost. The vigor from traits seem not worth it as i use Healing Spring all the time and thats on a 30 seconds cooldown.
