Keen to hear how other people use LB#3 in their rotation.

I am running glassbow in hotjoin and yoloq to what I feel is a fairly decent standard. However the one skill that I feel I am under-utilising is LB#3.

Where I have had limited success with it these two areas:

1. open with RF then stealth, use that time to get into melee range, switch to sword and pop qz

2. use LB#3 to get into position to drop a LB#5.

So how do other people use it?

For peels.

I usually use the stealth to reposition to help me kite. it’s hard to get into melee range of me when I disappear :P

though that’s coming from a wvw player, sounds like you’re using it for spvp

in that case, when i spvp, I’ll use it to give me a bit more survivability. with my block/hunter shot/etc. I generally have enough time to use healing spring about 3 times when fighting 1-2(occasionally 3 if they’re bad) giving me a decent amount of survivability

Almost purely for the confusion/repositioning in WvW, although if I’m about to finish someone off I might use it to cover up an important skill. Or of course literally use it to finish them off (stomp.)

I use it to escape from losing fights or before stomping. By the time the stealth wears off, it’s too late for the stompee to do anything to stop me.

Escaping is probably the only other thing I have been using it for, and it is definitely good for that.

I think the confusion aspect that fluffball mentions is probably something I have not considered. I know how annoying it is when someone does it to you (well) so I probably just have to remind myself that a well timed stealth is going to make them start to panic.

The great thing about it being confusing is the target just disappears. Thieves have massive tells on their stealths; rangers just aren’t there anymore. Even being a ranger main I sometimes stop thinking and assume a LB ranger has alt-F4ed on me.

i use it to stomp people. Especially guards and necros can be a pain if they see you start stomping as they instantly use their fear chain/knockback thing.

To heal while in stealth, so you can’t be interrupted

To reposition yourself so that the enemy is disorientated

To regain Opening Strike (if traited)

To gap close with Swoop while in stealth then using Maul, surprise crit

To run like hell if necessary

Yeah I think pretty much everything else has been covered here.

It’s a nice breather and has a lot of synergy with Troll Unguent. In competitive situations it is important to be able to maintain composure and keep a clear head, Hunter’s Shot gives us that much needed time.

It also gives us time to type /dance to kitten people off because people can’t stand losing to longbow rangers.

I use Lb3 to drop target so I can reposition better, I like to come out of stealth with an attack, LB4 and LB5 are both common.

I’ll also use it to cast Spirits, MT, LR (very fun when used and doesn’t cause damage), to Rez/stomp, swap into my Melee weapon, use axe 4 or axe 5 for a stealth reflect, swoop if retreating, etc.
