How is the buff in warhorn 4(pvp)?
Not enough of a buff to replace offhand axe.
Which is the problem with all the buffs we got this patch. They are less kitten but still not worth taking over other choices.
LGN
Actually, I think it may have a niche over axe OH serving a different purpose. For DPS no. Even with axe nerf. I would say it’s not utterly useless now; and probably won’t replace anything much; but it’s possible it can see use.
It improved the build I used to play by a huge lot (the build was fun and optimal for soloQ).
Not meta, tho.

If the duration of vulnerability would have been increased to 15 seconds/hit so that you would actually have time to be able to take advantage of the 15% damage increase for a couple of seconds, it would’ve been pretty nice. Right now, if I run WH, it’s still mostly due to #5.
If you want to abuse the skill somewhat I think you can stack trait cd and quick draw for like a 5sec cd.
I checked madking runes, they were not affected. Would have been a hilarious fail if they were.

Warhorn is actually really nice on Menders build in PvP. It was good before the patch and just got more useful. The trick is to trait it in NM. It has the following uses:
You can double blast the water field from Staff:
- St-5, St-3, weapon swap, WH-5
You can blast smoke scale smoke field with both weapon sets:
- F2, St-3, or WH-4
Or My favorite sneakiness:
- Use Glyph of Equailty to stun attacking enemy, St-3, or WH-5 the seed for light aura which gives retaliation when you are hit. (This is stronger than you might think as pet gets it as well) and most opponents love to spam attacks…
The Warhorn stacks might which makes natural convergence hit really hard. If you are on small point, Warhorn 4, Pop CA, Natural convergence, drop CA, auto attack with 1H Sw. You can even throw in a Lunar Impact before and/or after Natural Convergence if your opponent(s) decides to face tank you during it.
I still need conditions or offhand dagger to handle really good Rev’s, teefs, and chronomasters. Don’t leave home without a sharp dagger is all I can say.
Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun

The changes just make it a more competitive option. You keep all the goodness of WH5, but now you lose less damage compared to axe and you can bring a bit more to team play with the Vuln. There’s less of a drop off between weapons, which is always a good change.
Made my WvW build better. I usually roam with someone so we get the benefit from it.
- I am currently a main thief roamer for SF in WvW. LOVE ME!
- {SOAP} Solo/Havoc roamer, lover of good fights
I like the change. Its a good step forward in my opinion. I like the warhorn as a weapon in general, but as said: the buff is not large enough to make it meta-ish.

It’s actually now an incredible and awesome weapon for non-meta runs.
Imagine your party is not might stacked and you don’t have an Engie. You can provide 15 permanent might to whole party and lots of vulnerability, just like perma fury and swiftness.
Ever since you are to be the support, you might as well squeeze the most of it.
Naturally – the weapon is useless in meta scenario where targets are 25 vuln capped and PS warrior rolls his head on the keyboard.
I feel like you guys are playing a different game than me
Replacing offhand Axe in PvP?! Wat? Didn’t even know that was apparently meta^^
Anyway, it’s an interesting change and with the nerf to ele, picking up Warhorn for a bigger impact in teamfights may be worth a try. More so because of the boons and blast on WH5, the damage from WH4 is pretty negligible, though its nice pressure on a downed body for your teammates to cleave on top.
Having tried it in scrims, the survivability you loose from dagger seems to not be worth it. But time will tell, people may be too used to the survivability they could rely on from dagger OH still.
On an unrelated note, Spiders and Moas are now a very serious alternative for the Bristleback. Especially at high MMR. Low MMR, Bristle may still be the best since it will hit more often.

I used warhorn as a very powerful stealth tool paired with SmokeScale. Stealth can be taken as a defensive variation.
WS/NM/DR by playing LB+S/Wh. I had more than enough means to get to CAF, had a surprising nuke (WH#4+LB#2+Smoke Assault) and my team loved that I could constantly Stealth the downed for double revive (with pet from NM).
But what’s the most important – it had way too much stealth. By the rule “you can’t hit what you don’t see” – I could play full berserker and just dance around in stealth, constantly forcing 1-3 people to track me down off points and yet I mostly survived and rotated elsewhere → repeat.
Yeah, although this was already possible with for example a staff/LB setup. But the warhorn buff definately stimulates build diversity a bit, so its good.
Rabid bleed build ^^ . With axe 3 and 2 + bristle smoke assault and staff chain it’s kinda 30 stacks in seconds. Most ppl won’t even notice one condition on them.
