Guild Wars 2

I’m going to make a new character, and it’s come down to either a ranger or a thief. I like playing archer type classes in other games, but I’ve seen a lot of negativity towards the ranger and am having doubts. Are they really in a bad state or are people just overreacting? I’m going to blow a fair amount of gold to powerlevel via crafting so I’d like to know before I start buying the materials.

Ranger is very fun. But don’t let people fool you like it’s a perfect class. It’s not. It has some very serious problems with their core mechanic (pets) that has been discussed in depth in this subforum.

Ranger is first and foremost a beastmaster before an archer. Your pet is half of you. You will have to coddle it, pay attention to it, and constantly be giving it commands. If you don’t pay attention to you pet, you’re not using your full potential. If that doesn’t suit you, I would recommend against playing a Ranger.

it is fun to play but if you want to a pvp god.. this class isn’t it…pick thief… thieves are really really good…. they call don’t call this game “Thief Wars 2” for nothing

they’re both good classes,ranger is generally a smoother ride in PVE though,and for fractals alot of people don’t like playing with theives :P
