How long till rapid fire nerf?
Let us compare it to eviscerate which was already considered somewhat overpowered.
You don’t need to build adrenaline.
You can hit from 1500 range.
You can pierce targets to hit more than 1 person.
It stacks vulnerability. The biggest issue I would say is the 1500 range. There should be a trade-off from being able to attack from that far. Either lowered damage, slower attacks, higher cooldowns etc.
Theres a big tradeoff. Reflection totally turns back attacks of everything longbow except barrage. There is no equivalent in melee. Learn to use reflection or find a friend that does and watch rangers kill themselves.
People never really cared about reflection before, but now they do, thats a good thing.
alts: Fangyre (Necro), Hardrawk (Ele);
Jade Quarry
I for one hope they keep the skill exactly the way it is now. Im a warrior main and I believe that my little ranger brother deserves to have a few nice things.
I would even go so far as to say that power ranger could probably use one or two buffs in other different areas still.
Oh, Rapid Fire will DEFINITELY get nerfed when Anet’s beloved Thief class winds up getting consistantly spanked by it.
Which is ironic given thieves are the best equipped to take out a sniper ranger. A single backstab should cripple a glass cannon like a longbow user.
Well, seeing as we can finally kill theifs, i give it maybe…5 days?

It should have a range of 2000 in my opinion.
With eagle eye you get effective range of +1900 even if the tooltip says 1500.

Taku, ALL projectiles function that way. Every single one. They all keep going past their maximum range, the auto attack just won’t fire at that range anymore.
I do it with my staff elementalist all the time to fireball enemies that are sitting just outside the range my Lava Font can reach.

I don’t think this is true for all projectiles. It works with ele staff auto & warrior LB yes, but it doesn’t work with warrior rifle for example.
Here’s the thing I don’t understand about people complaining about Rapid Fire and how much damage it deals.
Have they all forgotten how to Dodge-roll, or equip some impairing ability such as a Stun/Blind/Interrupt of some sort, a Reflect skill would work wonders or even Retaliation.
Going forward with ideas how to counter this skill, use the Land and it’s Structures to your advantage, put a hill or a wall or something between you and the Ranger make him/her come to you, once their in range hit them with something I listed above and lay on your Spike damage combo or load them up with so much Condition damage that they freak out and lose focus.
It seems to me that people want this game to be FAR TOO SIMPLE and anything that requires thought and tactics is too much to ask for, and it’s not like other classes don’t have access to some ridiculously strong damage skill that mirrors the potential that Rapid Fire has…

its a Bullet same as Pistols they can Travel for miles allowing these weapons to carry the same Machanics as Arrow/Magic Projectiles would mean you would hit people a lot further than 2000 yards as long as you have a target.
arch dropping , extra flight time is just a Machanic Anet has been using ever since Gw1 , they had many different Bows and projectile type weapons that had different rules, distances of Arch dropping and shooting speed, this is so simple in gw2 it shares its most basic machanic.
RAPID FIRE IS OP kitten , nerf it thanks
RAPID FIRE IS OP kitten , nerf it thanks
blep ignored , give us maths that has already been proven its not op with many many other players that have also proven its not op , even some of those that dont play ranger have proven to themselfs that Rf is not op.
i don’t see that rangers are OP ad all the only change we have that we are faster and do more damage but ad the cost of our survival
you can see this as a FPS game like snipers
long range and can kill other classes in 1 shot
and rangers are the same most are very far away and shoot other players
so its best to adept to that
thief can easy get close to a ranger with out the ranger ever see them
so let the warrior and guardian hold the line
and maby thief and mesmer try to kill the rangers ??
mmh quite. just 2 days ago people were crying bout how underpowered longbow was and now when we have 1 skill that can compete with other classes its suddenly op.
logic. how about another hundred blades nerf?
So true…

whats more there is to add?
i’d post this on other treads.
Rangers are a little more dangerous in WvW, but still easy to take down if you know how to dodge/reflect/whatever your class does to avoid damage best. Sometimes the rapidfire is actually a deathwish for rangers; if you know you can survive a rapidfire burst, you can lay all your dps into them while they stand there afraid to cancel their beloved LB skills. If you have reflects, let the ranger kill itself.
This is a great buff imo – rangers were too easy to kill before the buff and I’m looking forward to facing better rangers once the rapidfire craze ends and people learn to play the class without relying on using the same moves as every other newbie ranger out there.
These are my opinions on the matter.
Its very simple these changes , i’ve had Multipul theifs try to hit me down with dagger storms , they are making a B-line for the Lb when they see it.
most of the players that do this Panic and run away when they notice i’ve swapped weapon set to S/H snf not a fotm ranger (since i zerg/group roam at late evening/night)
right now in WvW people are picking up on the use of Reflects but they are still using them at the wrong times , i;ve seen thiefs/Eles use dagger storm/magnetic shield as a Method of Bombing a group and praying it Reflects something thats not the way to do it.
and doing so Isn’t going to kill the Lb rangers you need to personaly Block the Rangers Los with a Dagger storm and force him to swap , i’ve seen them sitting Miles away poping this elite skill thinking it will lock me down 100% get in my face and use it , its much more effective + it helps your team mates by blocking its LoS.
I know some thiefs that Shadow step into a location and then dagger storm > Cnd >shadow out back to previous location.
Directly encountering a Ranger is the best way around it , to get the most use of these skills.
just the blocking of LoS can realy mess up Ranged Defence while trying to keep a team at bay, doing this protects your team from a Long LB’s assult if it isn’t stopped the LB’s chained damage will quickly Stack up unless blocked.
if the ranger then Disengages that he will kite around trying to avoid you , trying to shoot his intended target , Cancel that dagger storm and move onto a Classic CnD combo chain btu don’t do it too fast see what he does first.
and don’t forget if you Directly encounter the Ranger most Panic Huntershot, This Skill Reflected Will give your Dagger storm the Stealth from huntershot.
this will really Lockdown the Ranger and prevent him from using his LB, and removes you as a Target of Continued attacks because of stealth given as a side effect.
Use Reflects wisely and you’ll Counter a Rangers Effectiveness in these Smaller zergs.
im not opposed to give a helpful hints and advise , if it means you guys can have a Better Experiance.

No way bro, this is GW2. No thinking allowed. Anything that requires situational awareness and real time problem solving is hella OP.
Not long. Got killed by more than a few Rapid Fire + Quickening Zephyr Rangers already.
I wished they would separate PvP from PvE completely.
If the ranger is nerved because of PvP it will affect PvE too, which is unnecessary.
PvP and PvE are total different setups, so abilities should work different.
Decided to give it a shot myself and yeah, 10 – 12k damage in 1 second is pretty brutal.
How did you manage to shot yourself?
