I don’t want to look at the UI. I want to look at the HP bar on my party members.
It is very hard to heal allies if I can’t see what health they have.

That is the downside of the game not allowing third-party programs. If we had addons I’m sure we could do that easily. Until then, we just have to look at the Squad UI.
sucks how we kinda have to guess lol
I agree. Being a healer from other games I’m used to seeing my team/squad health-bars above the characters heads.
If there’s a group of players on low HP, how am I going to position myself to heal them specifically if I don’t know who needs the heals? Or perhaps it is up to them to stand in the BEAM lol.
The UI in this game is extremely subpar and lack of customization option.
Everything on the UI should be movable.
Lacking customization on damage pop up and skill effects compound to visual sensory overload even more.
The raid UI looks very basic and raw.
And yes like Trenker said, if Anet wanted people to heal, there should be an option to make the health bar visible permanently and bigger. Otherwise, we just gonna have to spam like maniac all over the place.
This! We need a better way to see Allies HP bar, so we healers can heal better!
None of this would be a problem if they hadn’t decided to bring the monk back into the game.
+1 to that. We need better UI for healing.

Not just for healing. Almost anyone could use this.
If I see a ally with low hp, I am going to run up to the melee attack and stun him so that my ally can get away safely. I could also drop boons on him to help him stay alive, or dps the player down.
I think there needs to be an option to make the hp of allies always visible, even when not in a party.
I tried raid today and could you explain me why do you need that? Maybe I’m totally noob but I didn’t even have a time to look at UI. I was just spamming healing and searching for orange cricles while avoiding the red ones. How did you manage to do that and also look at your UI?
I didn’t even see the timer! lol
Toggle on/Toggle off
Can we get this please? :C
Would love this also.

Yeah, much of the design is around passive/splash healing and self healing, especially UI. Bringing a much more focused healer class in was probably a mistake, ultimately, which will be regretted for a long time to come.
Perhaps it will bring an option to display these, or perhaps it will bring hover-casting to the squad UI, but most likely it will continue to push druid away from direct healing over time as the changes to make “DPS or healing” a choice by increasing healing power contribution to heals did.
Every few weeks threads come up asking to improve the horrible UI. Why the hell did they do this? What’s the purpose on such lacking customisation? I want side bars for food/gizmos/instruments/tonics etc. I want to resize the kitten elements, I want to toggle health bars, I want to target a player I can go for and take it in focus to heal it etc. But Anet won’t listen, they just are so stubborn to not let us change this and god knows why.

I remember why they originally wouldn’t allow 3rd party UI.
Something about, the player with the 3rd party UI had advantages over players who didn’t use it. There were many heated discussions on mmorpg.com
On one hand I like the simplicity.
On the other, there are things that are lacking.
I think they envisioned the game to be where you only looked at yourself and players without the necessity of staring at hud for combat cues. That was their big thing about no enemy dots on the mini-map coming from gw1 where you constantly were looking at that and enemy activation bars while checking your party window for low HP allies and clicking through them to cast ally targeted support skills and so on.
Probably the biggest support skills at launch were ele water staff and for those you just ground target casted it on players in red circles lol.
Someone here, don’t remember who, suggested way back when druid was introduced, to have some sort of toggable health bars for allies, and that you even could have a slider to set at which health % the health bars should be visible.
For example, when an ally was down to 75% health (or lower) – display a healthbar under their name.
I’m not sure. Due to the nature of the clusterkitten that are zergs in this game and the constant and fast moving around, it would still be very hard to pick out fellow players in need of healing outside of raids and small group content.
Also, in order to make CA #1 a more viable option to actually heal people in a game with so much moving around, it needs to change, and I find it amazing it remains the same today as it was at launch of HoT (except for some number changes last year). The radius in combination with the delay makes this skill one of the worst designed in the whole game.
Edit: Go and read about the feedback in the “Beta Weekend Druid Feedback” and be amazed at how things, especially when it comes to Cosmic Ray, have simply been ignored. This company sure continues to keep true that player feedback are in fact only player venting – they never seem to care, or respond to, issues like these. It’s really sad.

I feel like they will be forced to do something about the UI soon.
This basic type of UI, as clean and functional as it might have been for ages, no longer fits this game with all of the dedicated healers, squads, raids and lots and lots of zergs.
Always enjoyed it myself. The way the game didn’t require you to install multiple add-ons to do the most basic of things has always been a plus. That changed over time, however. This is no longer the release version of GW2.
In any case, I can not stop from feeling beyond silly whenever I am forced select someone manually on the squad/party UI to target them just to see where they are hiding below all these crazy colors and circles on the ground.
We should be able to have HP bars above people’s heads if we choose to have them there.
Another thing I’d quite like is to be able to see the actual HP numbers of every player in your squad or party. I know how unlikely this as it is widely believed that something like that would lead to more elititsm as those numbers would give one a good indiction on what type of gear that person wears.
I want to bring this post back to life. I just recently discovered ventari herald and I am loving it. However, it is difficult to main as a healer when I can’t quickly watch whats going on in the fight and my allies healthbars at the same time.
It is so hard to tell who is hurting and where they are.
I can see the actual HP of all NPC’s and things like seige/walls (things that have a standard HP model). It would be nice to see that of allies/PC enemies…but only works if they have a certain overlay running.

agreed. being able to see hp bars of players would be a huge help. feels like im healing blind, especially when not in a group on world bosses.
I totally agree with everyone, Anet should make an option to enable ally-hp bars above/under their avatars. i’m a Druid main, and it’s just super irritating when you fail to heal someone because you just had to guess where that person is in a split-second.
Seconded. Also, they have to overhaul the limiting UI in general: Make customizable side bars for food, (mounts after expansion), gizmos, etc. It’s beyond annoying to open the bags all the time and find the proper food/item/gizmo.
