What’s a good leveling build for Ranger? Not going to pvp much yet, mostly looking to do the story quests and 100% zones.

So far I’ve been going Longbow/Shortbow (whichever is currently stronger) for first weapon and my strongest melee/melee+offhand for second weapon.

Gotten 6 points in Nature Magic so far for Rejuvenation and eventually Strength of Spirit, not sure what to go for next. For skills I’ve been using Sick ’Em, Signets and Spirits. Pets are Brown Bear and Raven.

Ranger isn’t my main but i just leveled one to 80 finishing yesterday. Just my experience for PvE you should go Shortbow/Axe+Warhorn for traits I focused on skirmishing and marksmenship. I used brown bear most of the time just because they can tank pretty good other then that i used raven for the swiftness. Utility skills i used Quickening Zephyr Signet of the Hunt and Spike Trap, Elite when you get there Rampage as One is good even though it has huge cooldown.

Sounds good. What do you recommend for major traits?

Weapons: short bow & axe/warhorn
Pets: Bears (Brown & Murellow)

Of course you’d very what you’d like, say for instance using the torch instead of warhorn.

I’ve solo levelled up to 66. Aside from events that require more people.
I either roll with longbow with axe & warhorn, or shortbow with axe & warhorn.
I kept marksmanship maxed, 5 in nature magic and whatever else in survival.
My end spec will likely be 30/20/15/5/0.
Traits I use are Steady Focus, Piercing Arrows, Signet of Beastmaster, Sharpened Edges, Quick Draw, Shared Anguish.
I’m Asura so I use radiation field (racial ability), Quickening Zephyr, Rampage as One, and Signet of stone.
Pets I use are usually the Bear for tanking and Devourer for ranged.

PvE has been a piece of cake

Open world leveling is about as difficult as finding your strafe key. If you don’t want to focus on pets, then I would focus on ranged traps and damage multipliers.

Dual Bears seems to be the winning strat right now.
Ranged Traps and Marksman is how I would go just so you have some fun as auto attacks and sending a pet in to attack is quite limited.

Shortbow (trying to level with longbow is ungodly boring because of the insanely slow cast time on the bow) with axe+torch is what I would suggest.

0/0/30/10/30 pack toughness on armor and healing on jewelry. Healing Spring. Get Signet of Wild for passive regen as quickly as possible. Your pet will become insanely tanky and dish incredible damage all the while you remain tough as nails.

There have only been two champs I have not been able to solo. I Solo most [group] events. Important since most none end game zones are fairly sparce in population.

I found BM build far more survivable in long fights than trap condi build. Its stupid some of the stuff I’ve survived.
