Your rotation is quite flawed Durzlla. There is much more to the ranger.

Please enlighten me… i put down a spirit, he sits there and does his thing buffing the group, sure i have to put him somewhere he wont be mauled and have to make sure nothing is kitten at me at the time of placing him (unless i want him to take a hit or two for me), then there’s the miniscule amounts of micro involved in manging the pet, is pet in aoe? Yes) hit 3, and F3, wait until area around mob is safe, hit F1 No) don’t do anything. Then there’s the elite which is essentially just mass rez + condi clearing, healing spring which is aoe regen and condi removal, a passive sig i activate once in a blue moon, and then a 3rd skill that changes depending on the situation but is still pretty passive…
Yes… there’s sooooooooooo much to do…
@Coreidan, as my eng i actually am always activating something or making some sort of combo or what not, whether it be to throw people around with mines, throwing elixirs, etc etc… Idk, maybe it’s just that i played CH back in SWG where i had 3 pets running around at once and got used to microing that + using my own rifle skills and now this is just kinda meh in comparison shrugs
PS: before anyone says “But you need to be avoiding AOE!!” yeah… at 1200 range you don’t tend to see very much of that, and when you do you aren’t in it for very long…

“I put down a spirit” – well having any spirit in your utility bar is one flaw. They unfortunately are terrible at the moment.
Nonetheless, try out SB + axe/torch condi build. It’s quite fun, switch weapons a lot, and use all your skills (especially in wvw/spvp).
Traps is the only thing going for rangers right now.
I get groups now because of traps. My damage sucks but at least I help a lot to control the action. I have given up on dps, now I just play a controller to ensure enemies do not gang kitten us.

If these are the only buttons you press, then it’s fairly obvious you suck at being a Ranger. No other explanation to it. You’d also make a horrible member of a dungeon party, as you do not know combo mechanics, traps, rezzing, and pet abilities.
Some must fight, so that all may be free!

I’m actually the “Rez kitten” (as my group so kindly puts it) in my group, so i totally know about rezzing, i also mentioned i use my pet F2 ability, and just because i didn’t say “Make sure to position for combo mechanics” doesn’t mean i don’t, it’s boring because i stand back in freaking narnia in order to do well, flaw of the longbow, but that’s the weapon i prefer (well the skills anyway) i used to be up close and personally doing mediocre damage but lately (on my server anyway) the group will yell at me for not “maximizing my dps” or some nonsense like that when i’m running with pugs…

Well, if putting down a spirit is a flaw… wouldn’t i be having a better time playing ranger because the strongest utilities (for me anyway) aren’t passive ones i just simply refresh every 60s? Just because some idiot on the forums says spirits of broken doesn’t make it so…. they don’t have an internal CD, they have 900yd radius of effect, and they don’t draw agro unless you had agro at the point of summon… Yup, abysmal things… that’s why mobs don’t burn endlessly with sun spirit up despite no one else in the group having a burn…
As for the build suggestion, i’m just not that big of a fan of condition builds, i prefer the builds where you crit and tons of things proc, which is why i’m playing the engie more because they proc tons of things off crits..

On my server I’ve been pretty lucky finding groups outside of my guild. Nevertheless, every time I send a whisper to that guy LFG I’m afraid I’ll see that dreaded “what class?” response. Its Russian Roulette every time!
