Guild Wars 2

I am a huge fan of the Subpar GS (have been since day 1) and I have spent most of that time trying to figure out how to get the most mileage out of it. So I come to you… the internet for some input.

PVE/WvW Build idea.
GS/LB
Skrimish 4 – Pet Prowess – Quick Draw
Survival 4 – Wilderness Knowledge – Martial Mastery
Nature Magic 6 – Nature Protection – Two-handed Training – Survival of the Fittest
*Signet of the hunt, lighting reflexes, quickening zepher

- Reduced CD on Longbow/GS. Use lighting reflexes into Longbow and then back to GS when cd is down to keep fury up. Run with pet raven for some extra crit dmg. For WvW replace tow-handed training for Evasive Purity, GS is mostly used as a finisher/mobility device.

Dungeon
GS/-Axe/Horn
Marksman – 4 – ? – Spotter
Survival 4 – Shared Anguish – Martial Mastery
Nature Magic 6 – Vigorous Spirits- Two-handed Training – Spirits Unbound
*Spirit of Frost, Spirit of Earth, Search and rescue

- Keep spirits up for token buffs, run with ranged pets that hopefully dont die and can rev someone mid battle if required. Switching to axe/horn as much as possible to aoe buff.

I always have a hard time balancing dps/survivability in dungeons. But I find going pure dps on gs in groups does no bring much to the table.

Also what set so I be working towards? Berserk seems the right call but given my love of swinging this sword should I be aiming for more vitality/toughness?

Ask Anet, if they make GS dps equal to swords, most rangerproblems are solved.
And the sword will still be a good and often used weapon…

If u rly want to play GS, just use the metabuilds. GS builds are not rly diffrent for PvE.

U can play GS only builds (x/x/4/4/x) or something else. But they will do subpar dps and support.

For dungeons as long as you have Spotter, Frost Spirit, and Vigorous Spirit I don’t think people will care unless you’re speed running.

For a build you’re probably looking at 4/5/0/5/0

^ That. And Vigorous Spirit is not even strictly necessary. Generally, as long as you’re running Spotter or Frost Spirit (or even just one or the other), know what to do in the dungeon and don’t use PBS unnecessarily, groups are more than happy to take a Ranger in dungeons.
