Huge flaw in Ranger bow attacks

The only classes that want to strafe like that are other ranged classes. Just run up to them and shoot them at point blank range.
EDIT: I agree that it’s stupid and should be fixed, btw. Just suggesting a solution in the meanwhile.
ya i have gotten the obstructed message when tall grass was in between me and the mob, really frustrating
if they’re spamming A and D, they’re not closing the distance to me. shrug

Moonthrower, it works while running forward as well. I have experienced people do this to me, and I have also done that to other rangers. Just keep switching sides and most arrows will not hit. So when you get to the ranger you both will still be near max hp. Making it an easy kill for most melees, considering the ranger’s slow likely has missed as a result.
Yeh this is annoying , for a while i was convinced i was just lagging and not going around corners fast enough, if i cant dance left and right and dodge melee why should they do the same. I love to strafe left or right and see a warriors bull charge zip past me and off a cliff.
“Obstructed” I find it funny in a bad way, how I get this message at times from non-moving ojects like towers, ballists and such even though nither one of us has moved. To me I find bow to be buggy about half the time when attacking and then getting these odd messages, like “Obstructed” “Missed” and my all time pain “Invulnable.”
I really can’t understand how that last one happens when the mobs not used any skill, seriously I have time and time again checked the mob’s active skills list to see how they all the sudden “Invulnable” and yet at same time my pet still able to damage them.
I play a Ranger, and I feel bad doing this to other Rangers, but hey, I like to win.

This isn’t a problem with just ranger alone. As a scepter guardian I have the same issue. In fact, any 1000+ range weapon with a slower moving projectile has this issue plagueing them. ANet really needs to address this universal problem.
I’ve been popularly using this A/D button zig zag movement to dodge boss projectiles in dungeons. It needs a fix
