Hybrid WvW LB/X and trapper runes?
You need condi clear, healing spring and signet of renewal probably being the bare minimum.
Yea, the build definitely lacks condition clearing. SoR would be a good filler SotH. That’s one of the problems i’ve been thinking about. Usually, when I mess around with trapper runes, i’d be running 0/6/6/2/0 as a full condition spec and it has ways to clear conditions through traits.
What about a build like this? And instead of using Carrion gear I switched it to Sinister/Berserker?

Slot 9 is open to suggestions. Most likely would be Frost Trap or some sort of stun break.

You could run the first build and do fine if you use SOR for your stun break and healing spring as your heal. I would swap in warhorn on the sword set to fill in out of combat mobility and increase fury uptime.
The second one gives you empathic bond, but then you have to ask what the power is getting you over a standard trapper build.

I run that with celestial gear and warhorn instead off offhand dagger, works great. Only weak to certain guardian builds and exteme condi pressure (perplex necros/thieves) even with the extra condition removal.
Yea, unfortunately, I don’t have celestial gear just yet. Makes sense to not run the 0/6/6/2/0 because the power would be a waste.
Maybe i’ll run Carrion/Berserker gear, LB/SWH, with 6/6/2/0/0 and SoR. Traps are just way too much fun to not to use! I just don’t click with the shortbow and is one of the reasons i’d like to see a build for trappers using a longbow.

You should really try something like this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNBjODbkQl2V7WxcFqWDIIUrCg21Qy2CsTgMYDOZDVaF-TVCFABop+TAHBAs3fAgHAQZmgsS5nnKBTT3QCXEAA-w
I’m still pretty new to Guild Wars. How would I go about obtaining Celestial stats?
Reading around a few other places seems to have led me to the conclusion that Hybrid Trap Rangers (Or at least the kind i’m looking for that use LB) run with full celestial stats.
What makes Celestial stats more worth than running straight Carrion or Sinister?
For celestial stats, you need Charged Quartz which is time gated to one per day and you need 5 to make 1 item. A full set of ascended Celestial adds +500 to each stat, a full set of exotic adds +401 to each, Ascended trinkets and exotic everything else, it would be +488 to each stat. Ascended trinkets are easy to get, a satchel of armor is about 11g, weapons are about 5g each.
Celestial gives you all stats, which works well with hybrid because the stats are… how do you say? Hybrid? Meaning they have all damage types and also defensive stats rolled into one.
It really depends on personal preference, while carrion and sinister would be good for that setup too, they are both strong in condi but lack in other areas, whereas celestial lacks everywhere but also boosts everywhere.
It means you can make one set of armor and play multiple builds with it, its not as much raw DPS as zerk for LB, but you can throw in traps and you still get decent power if you trait for it and also defense. It’s not as much condi/crits/defense as Rabid, but its more health, power, healing etc.
Take a look at the build editor at http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ and you can make a set of gear that you like the stats of. No need to stick to a whole set of one stat set, you can mix and match to get the stats you want.
Hm.. I’ll have to take a look into trying to get that armor.
That definitely makes sense why hybrids use a ‘jack of all trades’ type of armor.
Honestly, I dont feel there is anything wrong with carrion and sinister in terms of usage for a trapper mixed damage ranger. While that is said, Celestial is good also to plug in specific spots to basically get ‘free stats’, which is why I suggest not using it in every slot but in specific places.
However, trait wise it is rough using Marksman and trapper in the same go as the condi removal is needed for various situations such as possible cannons or condi thieves. The build I run for WvW these days pretty much can run longbow in place of one of its swords, but since its non traited Its more of a mid-range weapon than long range. That said, I always feel that the more power you have in a build, the less reason it is to take shortbow which is why I am linking said build of mines.
While I understand the preference of SOR for removal, I find that simply having dodges saved and EB with stealth can work. Most rangers already get by with no removal, so this should work even with longbow attached. That and movement skills are heavily increased in the ground they cover when super speed is added, so taking dagger offhand with offhand training + Lightning reflexes makes you slippery in almost kittenous level.
For the argument on SOTH…. I honestly feel that having super speed via trap throws and swiftness via swapping to warhorn every few seconds is enough, especially now that you dont have to worry about your pet going berserk with the recent bug fix. Yes, Im aware it sounds silly to just throw traps willy nilly while traveling, but honestly they are on 12-16s CDs. So the worst that can happen is you see ticks from far away of a following thief while still maintaining your out of combat movement speed cause you are too far away for it to proc combat speed for yourself.
also, if you use traps and EB, consider lightning drake… its an odd choice but sometimes the blast finisher you get on first attack can help you get some might aka extra damage.
