Last night I used my ranger soloed a 5-men team in wvw (yes 1v5, I am surprised too), in whole process I was like killing all of them for free, it seems that they can never even touch me.
Today I use guardian and met twice VS ranger 1v1, and I was killed both time, surprisingly, in both of time, I can’t see the ranger in whole process (1v1 so not culling issue and more than 2 mins), but I was able to see the arrow coming , so at last I have to use staff to hit the direction where arrow come from.
I have not found what trick to trigger this bug, but all 3 times, me + the other 2 rangers use cat as pet (that’s the only same thing I can recall) , I guess there must be some trick for cat pet to gain ranger perma stealth in WvW.
Hope someone who know how to do that can give us some hint.

Thank you. I knew I wasn’t crazy. Although I’m pretty sure the ranger that did it to me in WvW had canines out, but when everything is a generic “beast” model, perhaps they were jaguars and I just thought they were dogs. They were sleek, slender 4-legged creatures.

I’m guessing since Jaguar has “stealth itself” as a special property, perhaps there is a bugged trait that shares boons between ranger and pet that is somehow transferring stealth to the ranger (from the jaguar) in a perma-bugged state? Or something like that? Or not, lol.

All I know for sure is that accidental or not, I’ve seen a ranger who was unbeatable because they could just disappear as frequently and for as long as they wanted, literally every 5 seconds.

That’s really strange tbh. I’ve done lots of wvw lately and this never happened to me. This looks like a bug to me, not sure tho. There’s no legit way a ranger could disappear every 5 seconds even if he was using a siamoth.

This has happened to me on my Guardian as well, I just thought I was being a newb, but I could see the arrows just flying out of an area and had no idea why I was getting downed without being able to see an enemy.

I think that you are on to something. Some combination of Jaguar, Fortifying Bond (15pt NM Minor), and HiPS (WS IX) is probably leading to some kind of bugged long term Stealth.

I can confirm this perma stealth too,i was not able to see 3 ally in WvW all 3 rangers.Also they were not aware of be invisible.
I was only able to see their pet .
They were all in the same spot (sud of central island of borderland map) in the same moment when this happend.

Is the reverse possible? I have recently noticed when I use certain LB skills it will track invisible players.

Juvenile Siamoth is sleek and slender and grants stealth to the ranger (it looks something like a beastly dog). (blinding tuft and throw feathers)

Remember, a ranger has access to a lot of combo finishers so smoke dropped by a thief can grant a ranger stealth. But yeah, this does sound like a bug. I just want to rule out anything else that could cause this behavior.

Could be a glitch with the ranger stealth trait, although I have been running into a lot of people in WvW lately that have figured out ways to exploit culling and disappear if they are just maybe 10 feet from you although it usually takes multiple people almost all of top of one another to pull it off.

They other thing to remember is that the engine takes several seconds to fully “decloak” a persons character despite them leaving stealth. It’s the reason a thief can burst you down and not truly appear until they are already in the process of stomping you.

I know that thieves can make perma stealth, but I guess your problem its just a wvw problem. What is happening to me is that most of enemies and some allies are invisible to me because there is so many people that I have to fight with invisible enemies. They already said something about it…Forgive me if I misunderstood, but I guess it might be it.

Whatever it is, it is not ranger specific. It’s probably just culling issues.

I’ve noticed my jaguar is sometimes stealthed when it gets feared (at the dragon events), even though I haven’t hit F2 and the skill still shows as available (indicating it hasn’t been used). It’s definitely stealthed, not a culling issue – I can still see it as a transparent outline.

That doesn’t necessarily mean fear has something to do with it. It may just be that I only really see my pet when it gets feared because otherwise it’s underneath the dragon’s feet while I’m far back plinking it with arrows.

This could sometimes happen when using the traits “Shared Anguish” and “Hide in
Plain Sight” together.

I’ve noticed the pet being stealthed (transparent outline) without Shared Anguish slotted. Maybe the pet gets its own copy of Hide in Plain Sight. Either that or the traits are bugged. Shocker.
