I still wish crossfire quickness worked.
Me too. But Crossfire currently is so OP compared to the rest of our weapon skills. I’m suspecting that it was a “nerf” that they just refuse to admit.
No evidence of course. But sigh…

I heard that they nerfed the animation which leads to nerfing the speed of firing an arrow… this alone already gave me a bad impression of the company… They are just saying… ‘Sorry, you want us to fix the animation? Alright we’ll decrease the firing speed then. ’ And it’s not that crossfire is OP. Its the weapons that are UP
i agree with xenus, crossfire isn’t OP, it does poor direct damage and applies a bleed while flanking. i will grant that it is easy to achieve the flanking state, but that doesn’t make it OP.
i only use it when melee isn’t really an option though.

Actually, after being called out on it, they admitted that the reason for the nerf was it promoted the spamming of “1” and they feel that type of gameplay isn’t fun. Yeah, their excuse makes no sense and they lied right to our faces about it, don’t expect any fix for it.

well, of course shortbow rangers spam 1. it’s the only skills that is worth spamming. i’m not digging on the shortbow weapons skills, i actually think they’re really good, but you won’t be using any of them on CD.
poison volley is good, though it’s best at melee ranger
3 is good for the extra evade and creating distance
4 is good for the cripple and some extra condition damage from pets
5 is great but the CD is too long IMO. even traited.
so, looking at that, the only thing they accomplished is to lower the overall DPS of a weapon for a profession that already has fairly low DPS. when i use shortbow, i still only use 1. i pop 2 now and then, and 3, 4, and 5 as the need arises.
though really, i played a ranger in GW1, i really should have expected they’d have no idea how to make it work, and nerf anything the class actually does well.

Thief got the same abillity and they haven’t been nerfed.
true, but i would also totally use body shot if i were a thief, since i assume you’re talking main-hand pistol.
body shot >>> poison volley, unless you’re fighting the Cave Troll.

crossfire is still one of the best bursts we can do, its not as fast as other stuff but it is decent with quickness.
The fact that Crossfire is so good for a ranger is an indicator that the other weapons are so bad. It’s like saying one dude is father of the year which makes the other fathers look bad, so telling father of the year to neglect his kids so that they are all equally bad and it doesn’t matter which father you have, they all suck.
I believe there was a dev comment on this (although I believe it was removed, I can’t find it anymore) but they looked into Crossfire and it was “unintentionally” nerfed but they decided to keep the nerf because the old design encouraged rangers to spam their one skill instead of a more active play style.
Again, rather than buff a more active play style and make other skills more worthwhile and rewarding to use (honestly, Crossfire alone is one of the most complex auto attacks in the game, flanking and it’s impact on your build, positioning and what that means for an intelligent ranger is far more meaningful than many situational weapon rotations) they chose to make one of them worse. What did they want shortbow rangers to do? Spam all their skills on cool down? They all have specific uses, you should be auto-attacking with Crossfire – it’s design (and how ranger does DPS via this weapon) is best served by spamming one. If they didn’t want rangers to spam the weapon they shouldn’t have designed it that way, they’ve made spamming less powerful but they’ve done nothing to make anything else more appealing.
Skill balance is currently too centralised around top tier PvP (a massive problem of GW1) and all 37 of the people who play it and it barely peaks outside the door to what dungeon or WvW players are doing unless there is some kind of exploit involved.
I just don’t understand why they play around the truth like this….why can’t Jon Peters or any other dev get on here and give us a firm answer on why they continue to keep the nerf on it…Because they didn’t want us spamming 1 is a horrible excuse because we are still spamming 1 while other skills are on cd….they just made spamming 1 slower for no reason.
I don’t care what kind of nerfs they will do to our SB. If they’d make it like thief’s sb effect/damage then I’m happy lol

I also don’t understand… Dev should be replying to threads to clarify questions. Instead no, they just keeps on making the ranger so so so bad and not replying to people what are they doing… its ridiculous. I remember i saw a thread about the Longbow speed. Jon peter replied that they were going to make it faster. But i didn’t see it in the patch notes[Dec 14] It’s like a false promise wth… Longbow continues to suck with the skills on cooldown. I’m so kitten with ppl in the Anet team not replying to threads… It really speaks alot about the company.

I’m not sure what you mean by “play around the truth.” They gave a pretty firm answer in why they nerfed Crossfire (they don’t want to encourage spamming 1 gameplay), like you said.

So the original answer being a animation issue we just forget about that? We called them out on it and they had to come up with a better answer which wasn’t really all that better. Anet lies…..best get used to it buddy

There’s two issues at hand.
1. They nerfing the Crossfire’s firing rate, because they “Didn’t want to promote 1-spamming.” Which is a delibrate nerf, and they gave a pretty clear explanation on why.
2. Then there’s Crossfire and QZ not working very together, which they call an animation bug.
1. I’m okay with. I don’t like it, but I understand.
2. I have mild suspicions that this was an intended nerf, but they also gave a pretty clear reason (animation bug) for this. You can choose to believe them or no, but you shouldn’t accuse them of not giving us answers when in actuality it’s just you choosing not the believe in them.
The original answer was “Animation bug”
Then after they were called out on after the ranger community said “What animation bug?” they replied with "we reduced the speed because it promotes “1” spamming and we feel that isn’t “fun” gameplay.
They have yet to address why crossfire and QZ fires so slowly.
So they lied, then admitted the truth and still haven’t addressed the other issue. That’s it in a nutshell.

Thank you! This gives me what I need.
What? ….
I literally just used this combo…and i didnt see any problem….
What? ….

It used to shoot way more faster before the .04 second speed reduction, The .04 second reduction was actually a lie because it was tested and proved that it was alot greater then the .04 second reduction Anet told us. Which is why us rangers are angry.
The lack of responses from Jon Peters is frustrating…

What happened was a Ranger beat a Dev playing his thief and that dev pulled out his sharpie and marked out a plan to nerf rangers.
