I used to be a adventurer like you...
I dunno, I play the pet class for the pets but then again it’s good there are options for people who hate them.
Plot twist: Druid’s staff will work like guardian’s and will have meditation utilities so you can play as guardian with your ranger while guardians can play as a ranger.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
That dragon hunter can use shouts!
FUS RO DAH!

But I want consecrations…
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
If you read the explanation of the guardian, you will see, that the warrior is much more a real petless ranger than the guardian hunter. I can’t believe, that they give him so much support, cause … he was lacking of support (…per distance) X(
But for it alone it is a cool specialization and it will be more fun to play the specialization, than the core-guardian for a ranger like me :P

So, just to get it straight, Druids will be desirable in dungeon groups and Dragonhunters will be auto-kicked?
j/k.

It’s not a surprise really. Jon Peters said that all the Elite Specializations coming with HoT are going to be CC/Support roles.
@OP:
Do what you want and have fun with it.
What you decide won’t affect my own decisions one bit.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.

Druid staff aa should wave of wrath and root 5 people with vines every time !
Yep. It ain’t fair at all. Dragon Hunters will have access to blinding arrow shots, shots that destroy other projectiles (similar to what master archers can do), an AOE trap barrage on as a default weapon skill, and single-target shots that will most likely NOT depend on distance.
I know what I’ll be playing if I’m itching to use a bow x) Also, arrows are ethereal blue. Win and win.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.

Not depend on distance, right. They will always be cotton balls.
Blue cotton balls x3

Eh, it just gave me a reason to level a Guardian. I hate warrior LB (dislike playing the class in general) and do love the “Arcane Archer” vibe that DH seems to be throwing.
I’m not bailing on my ranger or ele, but I’m going to have to give it a shot.
If you don’t like Warrior’s Longbow, you might not like Guardian’s either … from the info they’ve given, it looks like it could be Guardian’s condition weapon.

They get blind on their LB weapon skill, we get blind on a pet. They get weapon skills that destroy projectiles, we get 50% chance with a trait and sword or reflection with WD. They get immobile type skill with Barrage, we get a lot of cripple with barrage and also Drakehound that can immobile before you Barrage.
Single target shots that don’t depend on distance? Probably, but I bet Ranger LB does far superior DPS.

It’s not just the LB, though it may be my least favorite warrior weapon. It has more to do with alternate weapons and specs that just don’t do it for me. Really rifle is the only weapon I enjoy on the class, but I don’t enjoy it enough to put the time into it.
I have played a Guardian before and enjoy meditation builds and their staff builds, just hated not having a true long range option on them.
Between the two classes I’m thinking guard is going to be my heavy that I bring to 80 for WvW. The only thing that was preventing me from doing it was no long range build. Whether it’s condi or power doesn’t really bother me too much.
Of course, I may just hate the build and see what Reaver will bring :/
