Normally I play mesmer in WvW and PVE. I want something new. To much playing whit my Mesmer, over the 2,000 hours. I will a new play thing

There is a viable build that includes Shortbow and Greatsword – but your build doesn’t have anything close to it. Your trait choice is mostly wasted (almost no access to movement impending effects since you chose GS and Bear as a pet).

Not to mention that you didn’t take Moment of Clarity – that is like a must have in your weapon setup.
And if you want to keep the weapons – you definitely want to swap Sigils on SB to Air and Fire. That is your only damage you are going to deal with that weapon.

Also, the traps are pointless. You are too glassy in order to take benefit from no-dmg utilities that don’t even help you survive. If you want to make it efficient – Signet of the Renewal is a clear answer for your build.

With MoC trait you are going to have 5 second lockdown which is amazing in your Zerk melee setup. It will be in danger in XvY, but in duels it’s cool.

That’s all that came into my mind for now. I’ll definitely say a word again when more the community makes more points.
But currently, the build is a no-no.

It kind of looks like you took a mesmer build and put it on a ranger.

But you don’t have the clones and stealth to keep you alive. You’re going to get absolutely WRECKED with that since you no real defense of any kind.

The first step for any ranger build is figuring out where your condi removal comes from, because that dictates an awful lot of where your traits go.

Steps 2 and 3 are figure out what you’re going to do to threaten other people, and figuring out how you can stay alive while threatening other people.

Or you could use metabattle as a start.

Agree with Tragic here. You have almost no defence in you build. If you want to use traps i would use trapper runes. The stealth can save you if you are this squizy.
Also with that much crit potential you are better off getting some " on crit hit " sigils.

I would loose the traps/trap traits and go with Moment of Clarity for sure with this weapon setup. I also would pick a bird as pet. Greatsword 5 (gives you and pet extra damage + MoC for extra) + pet (bird) F2 burst + greatsword 2 is a nice combo to use.

Also i would advice you to create a build in pvp and try it out first for free

yeah, I would change quite a few things about that build. The synergy between the traps, predators instinct and predators onslaught is nice, but its clunky and has no other utility, those traps won’t save you or help kite all that much.

I agree with TP pretty much exactly as he has said it.

If you do not care what race it is, I would recommend an asura purely for the Technobabble skill which works perfectly with that weapon set and MoC.
Maybe something a bit more hybrid like this.

Thanks for the comments. Ranger is very different than a Mesmer. Me a real Mesmer player, ranger looks well funny.

My WvW guild abhor it. And demand that I go back to my Mesmer
