Q:
Ideas for good color combo for coats?
Depends on the theme you want to follow.
You can go for browns and greens for an Archer/Leather theme
Black and some blue tints for an assassin approach, maybe some details in red or white or even yellow (I like the black and yellow details combo).
I usually use a white/blue set since I wanted to have a snow/frost theme with my norn ranger, specially after I crafted frostfang.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I’m using a Midnight Fire/Midnight Rose/Midnight Yew theme at the moment and liking it. Sneakthief chest, gloves, legs, feet, Aurora shoulders, and Subterfuge Hood.
On my Engi I have Midnight Blue (or Nightshade can’t remember which) with Midnight Rose, Midnight Fire, and I think Ash or one of the other grey dyes. He’s in the full Aurora set.
I love Oil Slick and the olive colors. Oil Slick really brings out a lot of the hidden texture on clothing and it’s a very ‘woodsy’ brown color. The olives compliment the dark brown very well.
I’m going to second that Oil Slick looks awesome on a lot of medium armors. I also like Pitch for some of the metallic pieces, and Midnight Yew is a really nice dark green dye that looks great on the leather coats.
I’m gonna have to check out Oil Slick and Pitch.
Pitch is defintely recommended. Any white or black dyes would do the trick too, I’d stay away from red/gold/orange dyes on low lvl mediu. gear. Try to keep it simple simple, don’t mix too many colors and don’t use any bold dyes.
It depends on the texture of the armor you’re going for. Medium armors tend to go into three categories: cloth-like, leather, and hard-leather/armored-leather.
The cloth-like (such as the crafted set “Leather Armor,” Duelist, Stalwart, or Inquest) hold up to just about any color scheme and function well with bold colors.
Standard leather is most of the set, and it tends to mostly function with more earthy colors. Oil Slick. Pitch. Charred. Cinders. Etc.
Armored leather (such as Falconer’s) goes by a lot of the same preferences as standard leather, but with added steel pieces that look really good with Cinders, Antique Gold, and other such colors.
