If you want ranger to be buffed.....
And here comes the biggest one —- If you want ranger (or any other class) to be buffed IN GENERAL —— best way is —— stop playing it.
So I have to stop playing the class I want to play to play a class I don’t really want to play in the HOPES that one day the devs will fix my class? No thanks
I understand your feeling and never want to stop you to play your favorate class, but I just want to tell you a miserable truth. That’s the difference between dev and player.

The best way is to keep playing the class and give accurate feedback on the problems it has, not to just quit playing it overall.
You make it sound like developers are robots that only rely on statistics. My experience is that ArenaNet are smart people, that know when to listen to feedback, and when to ignore it.
Players have to remember that ArenaNet has to consider a lot more things then simply saying “I don’t like how this plays”, when it comes to balance. That they have an idea/goal about where they want the Ranger to be. And that while they do realize the Ranger is a bit of a mess right now, they can’t spend all their manpower and time only working on one profession. Ask yourself this question; what benefit does it have for ArenaNet to make us feel bad by not listening to us, and fixing the problems with the Ranger? Despite what many players believe, no one is trying to purposely make you feel bad. That would just be bad business.

The reason Rangers might not be getting the fixes they want also, is that the developers are testing the fixes and running into even more problems, so rather than break the profession further they are leaving as is til they can fix it correctly and balanced. It might not be the fix we want, but at least we know they tested and believe it will fix the issue. It is then up to us to figure out how to adapt. We will never get things exactly the way we want them.
If a certain class is over-played it means that class is overpowered which applies in a large number of population in Statistics meaning. It’s natural balanced. Vise versa.
im sorry, but that just isnt true. you can look at prelaunch polls about what profession people are going to play, before anyone had even played the game, and number breakdowns somewhat resemble how they are today (with warriors, guardians, eles near the top, engineers at the bottom). there are way too many factors other than pure power that that dictate such things (aesthetics, playstyle, ease of use, desire to use certain roles/abilities).
plus ive been seeing a lot more engies lately. i dont think its because they’ve suddenly become overpowered (theyve been nerfed IIRC), but simply that people are finally getting around to making engineer alts after trying out most of the other classes.
i too occasionally get annoyed about some aspect of the ranger and build viability, and will try out another class for a while, but i always come back cause i enjoy the playstyle. and they HAVE been slowly making life better
The popularity of a class is generally a good way of measuring that class’s overall strength. Aesthetics are but a minor influence. Barely anyone would play a class that excells at aesthetics but does poorly in PvP/PvE (engineer), while most people would definately play a class without any aesthetics which excells at PvP/PvE (warrior).
I fail to see how not playing the class would make the devs more likely to buff it. Its like a boycott, but with no actual consequence caused by the act. Its not like the devs make money off Ranger being played or something. It doesn’t have any direct effect on the developers if people are playing Ranger or not.
To me that actually gives them less incentive to buff the class. If the players don’t care about the profession as evidenced by the fact that they aren’t playing it, why should the devs care enough to buff it?
I dont realy care if the ranger gets buffed or not. What I want is for people to STOP KICKING ME OUT OF GROUPS JUST BECAUSE IM A RANGER. Thanks :/

As a Thief, I have to agree. Stop playing the class, and maybe they’ll help the class out.

Sure, but there is no feedback possible to give that they haven’t already gotten by this point.

Still isn’t a reason not to do it. Always give accurate, constructive feedback. You never know if you come up with something the devs (as omniscient as they are) overlooked…
It’s not that they are omnicscient, it’s just that out of the 4million plus accounts that have been created and all the people from those who have played ranger then reported bugs/balance issues, there’s nothing new left.
I can’t remember the last time I saw something on these forums that I hadn’t already seen. I would expect the devs to be even more “in the know” than I am.
