Stop chopps! Everyone posting here thinks ranger is terrible and not viable, instead of learning the class and trying things.

It’s a shame no damage meters exist in this game as it would be nice to know how much the ranger actually contributes to the damage as opposed to just the utility of the spirit.

Nope, not that cof speed run with two thieves, here there’s like half a dozen other videos just showing ranger pwning under various circumstances. Then there’s a very good discussion.

I solo champions… I don’t think the class is bad in pve, just dungeon work and wvwvw.

To be fair… all you need to solo a champion in this game is a strafe key Coincidently it’s also the #1 killer of pets in this game as well.

You should watch the video because this is for dungeons specifically in the context of having maximum DPS group.

Yeah cuz this obviously solves all the problems people complain about…Oh wait…

I never said any perceived problems were solved. I just offered this link to show that ranger is good to have in a 5 person dungeon group.

Any direct damage profession that has 2-3 people spamming might for you will do this damage as a zerker.

Ranger brings frost spirit and spotter for a massive ~12% damage boost to the team so that’s basically a good thing to have. If you’re doing ranger in dungeons or fractals you should be using this build or a variant of it. And it’s viable—indeed, desirable.

I know rangers aren’t perfect. Even so, you can feel good about taking one into a dungeon. It has evades, man. You live all day. And ranger brings a lot of support, utility, and, yes, damage. It’s not so bad.

Folks on this forum need to get over the myth of “bad” classes. It’s over.

The mechanics in this games dungeons currently support a certain play style. Build around that and watch mobs melt. Fight it and every boss will feel like a struggle.

Player: Ranger’s Suck they have no DPS.
Video: No, run this and you can DPS.
Player: It must be best class ever. This clearly proves there’s no problems at all.

The problems with ranger come from how people view and want to play their ranger. Sadly, at this time, the bow class that comes to mind when you think of ranger/archer isn’t really as top tier as people want or hope.

The biggest game problem so far though isn’t a ranger specific one, though. It’s the fact that they’ve pigeon holed game types in to only running certain setups to even be competitive. If that play style isn’t one you find enjoyable, well it’s on to something else – no amount of gearing will change that.
