I am trying my best to provide you guys with the best content possible and therefore i had the honour to invite Niah of Team Curse to an interview to share his opinion about his class the game and the current meta
Also he told me a few tipps and tricks for new rangers!

i will try to ask future guys I interview more about that topic thanks for the feedback
But the main idea for such videos is that good players show their builds and talk about their class since all the views on the current meta are already posted on the forums etc or on twitch (rant of the week) so I am currently just asking them if they want to see changes and if yes..which ones

Well if you pvp alot.. you should already know that this meta right now is nothing but Condition spamming and Perma Stun regeneration warriors.. i mean thats pretty much it.. theres nothing really much to say about it at all because this meta needs to change and asap and anet already commented that they are going to be toning down conditions alot. because atm.. even with alot of condition removal it will never be enough because you will run out soon enough and drop to the floor like ur stats dont even matter :S.

one issue with conditions toning down is that rangers suffer ultimately the most out of this than anybody else, our offensive edge suffers ALOT from this. sure, we’ll be able to live longer because other people wont have as much offensive power with conditions either but most other classes have options to go power builds moreso than the ranger, keep in mind we still need 30 in WS to get adequate (if any) condition removal even after they get toned down and even then that goes to our pet – while this exists we will always need to suffer 2 aspects

1) 30 into ws diminishes offensive power in direct damage returns dramatically
2) dmg offset to our pet with a shoddy ai that cant always be relied on in a 1on1/group matchup diminishes forms of our offensive power via direct damage (pets also always cant be on top of the player because aoes exist, and we know how much pets get destroyed by aoe damage)

so we will get hurt alot by this because anet simply wont give us any trait help to improve gaining a good power build option and hasn’t touched pet ai in 6-7 months

i am happy at the idea that conditions are being toned down though

well lets hope it will turn out the best because I would really miss rangers in pvp (not spirit ranger ones tho) i would love to see power rangers where you have to position yourself perfectly like a necro has to and then start attacking…

You position youraelf with power necro? I just stand somewhere in the middle lf battle and spam wells and aoe. It’s so easy it’s ridiculous that ranger doesn’t get more reward for the high risk of using a bumbling pet. But then it becomes OP. So what can you do? It’s the nature of the design. I think most people agree that ranger is funky in terms of balance.

haha no i was talking about a power ranger positioning himself like a necro (probably condi since the range of a power necro is pretty tiny)

oh… yes i really apreciate those “interview” but how do you define who is “top X class”? Only with their HotM leaderboard? I’d say… there are tons of “top ranger” out of the leaderboard and i wouldn’t take all what “he” says as the truth…

ps: a good action against a ranged class would be:
axw 4# + axe 5# which can deal massive damage (if power build) or give you pressure, cc, block and a mid-low damage over a single target enemy.

i guess he is using offhand axe for the defensive abilities
and well good question how i define the top x class:
thats how i do it:
1: i check out the leaderboards
2: i play with the players i interview
3: i talk to other high ranked and well known players who they think is the best in xy class
4: i watch streams and do research and analyze their playstyles
5: i invite the guy who made it through all of this

this sounds crazy and very time consuming: yes it is!
why do i do that then?:
i love guild wars 2 and i want to help the community out and show some initiative to help improve gw2

his sigils
his amulett
his pets
his offhand

also its especially for new players that want to know smth about all the classes and their current state in the game

I know battosai uses carrion as well , but he has dagger of hand for better defence due to evade, and higher poison uptime . Tats why im asking

Off Hand Axe is a very underrated weapon that is really good for both sPvP and WvW

well imo its personal preference like the necro’s stunbreaks atm

offhand axe is pretty great in teamfights and it’s also good to set up your spirit bombs, it comes down to what your teamsetup needs in the end.
while forge runes are really great against power teams, i personally run melandru now against most teamsetups ( that is if i find the time to play ) because it helps a lot against warriors and condition based classes.
another thing that’s different for me is that i run double geomancy – just the strongest on swap sigil for damage and pressure, a little less safe though than just going double energy, although i can compensate that with dagger offhand.
oh and one more thing is different as well – i run carrion amulet + rabid jewel, as it doubles your critchance from 4% to 8% while increasing your toughness as well, netting you 2520 toughness with 23772 hp with near permanent protection, which i found is one of the more balanced and really survivable set ups to play against both condition and power classes ( mainly the stun lock warriors that some rangers have problems with )
and i cant really stress enough just how good sword/dagger as a combination for survivability is.

when i consider a build i always talkabout general feature not specific. When talking about spirit build i’m talking about “common traits/skills/play style for spirit build” and this build has all… the difference is the personalization…

In the future, view the player your interviewing rather then sit in your class, show there skills-build-items.

Give’s a reason to watch rather then just listen. First 9 min’s was rather boring to watch.

Also I would use http://en.gw2skills.net/ and do up his build and link it.

I enjoyed the interview was nice to listen nice and clear.

EU meta in term’s of Spirit Ranger is allot different, EU seem to use Carrion where NA use Rabid/Shaman setups depending on there roll. Not fan of his build but like I said it’s different in NA to EU.

Just a tip, I love comments from top players, but like Sol said if they want to provide it give some of the builds they are using. I also prefer to see footage of them play.

Not a bad interview. Some really good stuff in there for newer rangers and Niah really knows his stuff which is something nice to see. Not the best spirit build though.

could be i guess its just what he likes to run expect more interviews to come after the patch!

how you play other builds and how you move with your class also how good your tactical understanding is and how good u know how to master certain situations
