I’m thinking about gearing my ranger to reach 30k HP with around 950 condition damage, 2500 armor, and 1500 attack power. Just not sure if this is a good build in wvw.

what weapons are you planning on using? are you using traps?

weapons like sword/dagger can pull a lot of evasions which would allow for less health and more condition damage… Less health because the plan is not getting hit.

I do not believe it will be any good, and you will be eaten alive by pretty much everyone.

Because,

There are people out there that can do 10K+ damage against high-toughness builds in a few seconds, so with all your points in Vitality (to reach 30K) and therefore low-to-zero points in toughness and healing you will take even higher damage and you will not be able to heal yourself back to the full 30K anyway.

Second, with all your points in Vitality, you will do very low direct damage, and 950 condition damage is merely average.

To make things short, keep your health between 18K and 25K, that’s as safe as you can go without losing on your damage source, toughness, or build utilities. That you will be eaten alive? Sure, I second that, but not by everyone.

You need to specialize with either a power build or a condition build.

While vitality can be nice, it is a luxury you probably can’t afford and rangers have reasonable vitality to start. You lose precision, condition damage or toughness.

If you were running dire armor, you would have less power but higher condition damage. Then you can tailor your sigils, runes and food to work with your build. You could also run apothecary for a condi-regen build or rabid armor for a crit-condtion build (often involving traps).

For zergs … that’s a different story though rangers aren’t the best class in zergs since pets don’t live very long.
