So I have read the top threads for Ranger and it seems like most of them are rants of the ranger just being useless. I don’t know wether to give up hope or just wait. I guess we will see tonight. What are your guys thoughts on patch I still haven’t heard any definit news.

I love rangers, I don’t understand why everyone’s complaining about them, they aren’t that bad. I’ve had an easier time playing ranger than I have with other classes.

With the exception of a few, most of the rants here want to see massive damage numbers and one shot kills. There are a many who like the class but as the saying goes “The squeaky wheel gets the grease” and the squeaky wheels tend to make more noise than the rest of us around these parts….

Class is what you make it, nowhere near as bad as those “squeakers” would have you think. Yes, the class needs tweaks but it doesn’t need an overhaul as some would have you think…

It’s the horrible trait setup and no-utility that Rangers hate. You give NO CREDIT at all to ANYONE in the game, be it wvw, dungeons, pve, whatever there is.

Pets are a freaking joke, never hitting any moving target. Their pathfinding is worse than a 3 year olds.

Man just read threads, seriously. Im not going to list every disadvantage rangers have.

Edit: I nearly forgot op. Yes, all hope is lost. The people responsible for nerfing and buffing say ranger is fine and fixing pathfinding is something they can’t accomplish because of the engine it seems. So it will stay bad, forever.

I wouldn’t expect much, but you maybe you can just play your ranger, that might just be possible. Lol. Don’t base your satisfaction on other people’s opinions and experience. The forums should encourage and help you, not make you want to quit. Avoid posts of the latter.

lol @ complaining about the ranger class…. the class is in a very good spot right now.

The pet is broken, the pets always been broken.

Fix the pet or take some of the damage away from it and give it to us, because most of the time it’s a dead un !

Ranger class is fun to play, it will be 10x better if we could stow the pet permanently ( If we wanted ) which in return will give the Ranger a passive buff. Pets are cool, just not when doing Dungeons, WvW etc.

Ranger pets are as useful as the mini pets.
They both never attack.

I love the Ranger, despite the problems it has I love it’s style, look and everything about it. I’m hoping the patch will solve the problems so I can finally stop reading all these repeated rants over and over, but I’m not expecting them to fix it because I highly doubt they will and I don’t want to be disappointed come tomorrow. So I’m keeping my expectations low but even if there is no fix I’ll still love the Ranger, till death do us part!

Go look at most of the class forums,there’s threads like these (In fact they are worse on engineers/necro forums)

Imo, ranger has improved in december’s update and it’s ok since then.
Of course, pet AI and spirits remain, as well as some other smaller issues.

I’d like to see some hard nerves in other professions though, especially when looking at WvW.

Pets don’t hit targets, die fast and aggro every mob because they dont stay close to you, in other words there useless. Your generalization is wrong. I PvP and WvW with my ranger much more than PvE, and I think it’s fine. My pet hits high and often, stays alive, and when I don’t want to aggro, I put it on passive. We have traits and utility skill that need to be looked at, but we are far from alone on that as a profession.

I comes down to the fact that some just can’t play the class. Don’t get mad if you’re one of them. I for one can’t play a thief to save my life. Just as there are thieves that die as soon as you look at them there are other who excel at playing it.

I hear pets can’t do this and they cant do than. Most ranger use melee pets so think of what you would need to kill someone as a melee fighter. Some type of snare. Most people move none stop during a fight help your pet by moving toward your pet (if your opponent is the aggressor.)

People say We cant do anything in Orre. I can solo Champion in Orre. I would not be able to do this without my pet.

People say rangers dont have a role our role is being about to do alittle bit of everything. We are The jack of all trades. Some other classes may do it better. Well that just because we are master and they are Grandmaster but they cant do it all like we can.

So is there Hope. Yes for we Ranger are the shining become of balance. We are a solid class. Not alot of gimicky tricks like thieves or one trick pony like warriors (100 blades).

I can’t comment about PvP or PvE. In WvW they are fine. I am average at best, and I win at least 50% of my fights vs pure level 80s ( I am not including up arrows where I obviously win more). I expect good players win more than 50%, which seems pretty fair to me.

Rangers are good at roaming around picking off stragglers with the new speed signet …especially combined with GS. Can help the cause by soloing supply camps or helping defend towers/keeps.

Sure I think the trait tree was built by some guy making choices by throwing darts….along with some bugs that need cleaned up….but every class has bugs since it is a very new game.
