Most talk around the Druid elite spec indicates that it will be kind of a healer, support type Elite Spec, but does Ranger, as it stands today, really get anything out of more support and healing?

Most people complain that Rangers don’t have very high DPS and that is why they get a lot of hate, so why a defensive Elite Spec in the form of the Druid?

Maybe Rangers and Druids will be very viable with the release of HoT, but in my personal opinion, I still believe that they will be left behind by other classes and Elite Specs.

This is annoying for me as I main a Ranger and take a lot of crap from others while doing dungeons and fractals (I run a condi build as that is currently the highest DPS build for Ranger).

Bear in mind that these are just my thoughts and that I may be completely wrong about everything.

I think it will be best to actualy see what the druid is all about before answering your question.

I really believe that the Ranger community could defiantly use some loving and a hopeful elite specialization that will cover all aspects. To possibly make ranger and the druid more valuable in the expansion and going forward would be how much you will get out of the druid spec. A lot of people ask for High DPS; High Condition; High Support. So with that being said, what if the elite gave you kits/attunements/aspects/commune etc… to cover those? It might sound like a lot to cram into one specialization but how long will you all wait for the next elite specialization to be released for the ranger and it not covering what you asked?

If you think about it, your “druid kits/attunements/aspects/commune” can affect just the healing/utilities and elite skills you’ll have, and just leave what attacks you dish out with a staff. In the end; you would get a staff that deals moderate damage; commune with animals for high dps and mobility, commune with nature to dish out large targetable control, cc and condition vine attacks, and the last can be something like communing with your surroundings, bestowing you with skills that give out boons/healing etc…

But anyways, I mainly play a mesmer but heres still hoping for the best for the druid specialization, so I can have a reason to switch

I command on a ranger, with great success. It all depends on your community. Staying alive and contributing positively to the raid generally overcomes the bias. But there are elitists out there who will forever remain scum.

Nope. Looks like they might be taking this week to review all the feedback from various sources and start doing internal testing on adjustments.

Also, I’ll agree that it can’t be said for sure if Druid will be good for the Ranger or not until the reveal and testing. On the flip side, it could be good for the Ranger on the basis that the Devs are communicating with the players for feedback and making adjustments accordingly.

I mean, just look at Necros. Axe and Scepter are having some improvements done to them after 3 years during this time. Props to Gee for doing so and listening to the feedback of the Necro community. One can only hope the same treatment shown thus far for every class that has gotten their Elite Spec will happen for Rangers.

Yeah it’s pretty much guaranteed if there is a weekend event, there isn’t a reveal that week, especially after any sort of holiday weekend.

Right now the schedule will probably look something like, starting at this last weekend.

Not that I think we won’t get any BWEs at all, but the point here illustrates that there aren’t that many weeks left, ANet takes breaks after weekend events, and there are still 2 classes to announce elite specs for, so at least 2 weeks for that process.

We are 6 weeks away, 2 weeks will be reveal weeks, there will be another WvW stress test, and another BWE (at least 1). At most, ANet is going to have 2-3 weeks to even gather and implement feedback, and it definitely won’t have enough time for another round of testing and then fixing again.

I’m hoping that Druid does for Ranger what Reaper is doing for Necro. Ranger has always been one of my favorite alts, and I really want the elite spec to be amazing.

The Druid really excites me because Arena net has a habit of taking things to their natural extreme. I’m one of those people who loves casters and I’ll play the druid as a caster for sure. However, there is something to note about the druid’s play style in other games as well as Dungeons and dragons.

The Druid is capable of a lot of things in D&D. And I think this is were Anet is going to be pull from. Druids are known for shapeshifting, healing and summoning. When the druid shapeshifts they tend to be in a more brawler, close range position. They’re also known for supportive abilities as well as summoning the creatures of the wild. If Anet does all three, you’ll have a whole tone of options available to you. not just healing.

The skill type that best fits the Druid in my opinion would be Glyphs. Glyphs could change their function based on the animal companion you have equipped at that time which could give new value to under used pets and provide a tone of unique ways to play the druid making each version very different from each other.

Nostalgia from the old WoW days

Although technically we have no idea what it will be like, there was datamining of a mechanic called “aspects” so i’m hoping it will be similar to ele’s attunements and you’ll have an aspect for each role. So maybe bear is slightly tankier, wolf is supportive and bird is dps. But again, that’s pure conjecture since we don’t actually know at all.

Druids have always had a small form of healing, much similar to how ranger is now. Even though I think it’d be horribly balanced most likely, I wish for shapeshifting. Love the Norn elite skills and I’ve always been a huge fan of shapeshifting classes and dot classes.

or
“When you apply Regeneration to an ally, you remove one condition”
or
“When you apply Regeneration to an ally, you also apply Resistance”
or
“When you apply Regeneration to an ally, you also apply Protection”
or
“When you gain Regeneration, nearby foes are Weakened”

I’d like that…

It makes sense to use Regeneration as a trigger condition for some other effect, since we have so much of it.

people forget about Raid dungeons requiring new roles to be more stronger to be successful.

Support heavy Druid Elite Spec can be very powerful for Raid groups.

While you have regeneration boon, all your projectiles and melee attacks grant regen to allies. Regeneration you stack upto 3times on yourself or allies removes 1 condition.

Crazy? Stupid? Druid?
