Is Ranger good for PvE?
Certainly worth playing. Condi ranger can be fun and rewarding, as with power. But, it’s Druids that really shine with outstanding group buffs, an insane amount of support through heals and other things, and then respectable personal damage. It’s quickly become one of my favorite professions.
Yes ranger’s great for pve, thanks to pet being able to tank for him, and even having bit of stealth to ensure that happens (become invisible, mobs switch their attention over to your pet). Many a time with medium skill you can solo stuff majority of other professions cannot unless the player using them is really skilled and knows his stuff.
Condi ranger is huge fun, personally I’d prefer him over power, which in turn is usually safer (if it’s longbow). Also rangers are kings vs many HoT mobs, due to very high cc (which modrem hate and can flat out be rendered harmless by some), that in many cases you can apply from a safe distance.
Druid is a top tier pvp and raids class so again pure win.
On the flipside ranger drawbacks include alleged low dps (not a problem in raids since druid is taken for support not damage), and complete lack of any form of boon stripping/corruption.
Also keep in mind that ranger’s easy to learn, but hard to master. Especially the druid, who needs to manage 3 swapping mechanics to be really effective – weapon swaps, pet swaps, celestial avatar form.
Druid is PvE meta.
Ranger (core) not so much.
He is easy to play but maybe hard to master in PvE. The thing is you don’t need to pay attention to any rotations. You always just adapt.
Your personal DPS is garbage in party content but you are very efficient in the open roaming and events.
Yes, Ranger is a good class for PvE. You might end up being just a support (both offensive and defensive) in party content, but it’s definitely a powerful asset for the party.

Open World, story Dungeons, WBs, solo – pre or 80 Ranger is great. Solo you have pet; CCs, speed/quick buffs, etc. Now more group content; at 80 if you don’t have a staff ppl will ask why you don’t and to pls spec Druid.
Now, my preference IS support, heals, etc. So Druid is one of the best for that role. But many ppl who go Ranger don’t initially sign up to be a heal/buff bot and support at end-game. Druid runs counter to Ranger identity tbh. So if you want nothing to do with Druid; you may find some issues as Ranger in group content.
But pwr/condi Ranger DPS is okay, yeah lowest technically but in dungeons tbh shouldn’t matter if you know your rotation.
So Ranger levelling was literally light years away from 80 Druid; it is a new class tbh in many ways at 80 more than other elites I feel. Good for some, not for many.
Ranger/Druid is awesome in every game mode. Druids are a must in raids, they perfom well in Fractals, specially high levels, its great in Spvp and even better in WvW with all the min-max status and foods.
