Hi! So I’m leveling a condi ranger and I leveled a human one to 80. The problem is, I’ve heard that Sylvan Hound (Sylvari’s elite) is 1/1,5k DPS increase. So it might be worth to level a Sylvari, but I don’t have knowledge tomes and I hate how Sylvari look… So I don’t know. Is it worth it? Will it make a great difference?

Yes the hounds are a DPS increase and one of the Sylvari utilities is incredibly troll with Druid in WvW.

HOWEVER, I strongly recommend you play the race you want. There is a good chance it’s going to be nerfed, Anet wants racial skills for aesthetics only. the only real reason the Hound is good right now for Ranger is every other elite we have would be better served by a 5th utility. StotP or as it used to be RaO lost 10s in it’s transition to a shout. Entangle is lol, Spirit was gutted when Spirit Ranger was gutted and the Druid Elite is a joke bar watching idiots kill themselves in PvP, and it only works on idiots.

That said, just use Hounds of Balthazar until then I guess. Would not worry about minmaxing over looking the way you want.

Hi, you do not mention what kind of gameplay you preffer, Open PvE, instanced PvE, PvP or WvW.

But I can tell you that for PvE, Both entangle and glyph of unity (druid elite) are very strong.

Highest dmg build for ranger use entangle. And it will also often be used for the utility (immob).

I dont know about PvP, but in WvW or PvE I cant see any reason to ever run Sylvan Hound. Its just not worth it.

Sylvan hound is best-in-slot for PvE single-target currently, making it the best choice for most raid bosses. But I don’t expect it to stay that way for very long. Personally I wouldn’t reroll your character just to use it, since they will likely have to do another pass on broken racial skills in the next balance update (Avatar of Melandru is hilariously overpowered for condi thieves currently too).

Atm only if you are raiding it makes a difference but dont worry it will be nerfed soon.
Mainly Anet is scared tgat people have benefits from having other races. Instead of balancing them properly and deactivate them everywhere except in openworld.
