Is it just me or Ranger rekin pvp
When i go Pvp i do not build Full glass as Full dps direct damage is Obsorbed by those heavy classes.
instead i use the Rangers ability to apply bleeds to any weapon using Traits and Sigils to deal Condi damage ontop of the Direct damage so only 1/4 to 1/2 the damage is obsorbed , also the base tick rate of the bleeds+poison if the ranger hits you with a dagger or sword 3 , will then overpower the base healing of said Heavy classes , leaving you Vunrable to direct damage as the damage can no longer be Migrated through Armour+Hp ticks.
ok and for your Bullet points.
A; that is Rampage as one it can give 20-26secs of Stability (120sec cooldown) you see this dont use KD skills focus on dps if you cant kite Los if terrain is nearby or use Shield to bide time untill their stability wears off , but i’d suggest hiding since this elite skill grants the ranger 1 might for every pet attack , so hide kill the pet and focus on Dps vs the ranger after focusing said pet forcing the ranger to swap , making him loose his Potentional Might stacks he could of gained from the pet attacking you.
Rampage as one Animations = Glows Red ,
other option Signet of the wild 8secs Stability = Grows Large +25% damage. the classic LB glass ranger will have both of these granting him damage (8secs) and then Stability for a total of 28secs since they dont use Boon Durations , all you have to do is Shield/ off hand sword / kite or line of sight for 8secs till both Signet of stone and that +25% damage is wore off, just make sure you don;t take too much damage or you will be pinned behind said cover.
B: that is Signet of Stone 80sec cooldown
Active= (6secs of no direct damage) Still weak to condis just like Endure pain
Passive= Grants 150ish toughness at lvl 80
the idea of this is those full glass Lb rangers will die after the Signet of stone wears off but KD’s will not work is they have used Rampage as one and they will swap to Greatsword to finish you off , if you attack them head to head as the pet will provide them with lots of might while you Hit into that Signet of stone which only buys them time to kill you, if they pop those skills it is better to run (if you have no Arrow defences like off-hand sword or shield)
though in gw2 the weapon swap system allows you to do so Gap close and have a form of defence , also again in all MMOS Range attacks will always have that effect of if you can’t make it up to the archer/ranger/ range user quickly the Melee user won’t have enough Hp to last and generaly the only Warroirs that have problems with this are those that roll Full Beserker without A Defensive weapon set or use Dash type skills while trying to speed up stairs only to hit the wall, that then makes there hp dwindle even more while the ranger Defends himself with Barrage Stopping the warroirs Assault because he did not have enough hp to finish the Attempt.
just having a shield or and trait Reflect Arrows is more than enough to make that Beserker hp Last long enough to bide the time of signet of stone and Rampage as one (just don’t forget to pressure the pet and force the ranger to swap pets he will loose his advantage from gaining might from the pet) if he keeps the pet dead then all he is getting is Stability and swiftness.
Hope this helps!

Since it sounds like you’re just getting in to PvP, check out this site to see what other players are running so you know what your up against. You’re going to get absolutely wrecked by everyone if you don’t know what abilities they’re using.

Or if you want to learn it in a more visceral way, play some of the other professions.
Try playing a few games as a ranger and see if you still think they’re op
LGN
Actually, just roll ranger and join the club!
To be honest, long range weaponry is pretty underpowered in sPvP. It’s just too easy to close that gap or reflect it back at them, and most fights are on top of points anyways.
It’s the low skill floor red herring. If you are inexperienced you will get destroyed by a ranger. If you are experienced you will destroy 99% of rangers.
As a warrior who has played a number of builds for quite some time- i have come to find that ranger seems to be that class i fear the most.
It seems to have qualities that an overpowered class would have- long range. Heavy dps- and strangely maintaining that high dps against something in heavy armor. (Does heavy armor even matter anymore?)
And then- when i do close the gap i’m fighting what seems like some sort of magic samurai- i’m not experienced enough to know precisely what it is but
A. I cannot knock them down
B. They seem to have some sort of skill like “endure pain” (warrior) where they are not taking and dmgI’m sorry- i dont mean to be lame. But i’m going to bring in another MMO for context.
Archeage… Primevials (archers) in archeage had a similar setup where they burst down someone with arrows but certain classes which countered this and closed the gap would usually win.
It just seems a bit strange that when i get up close to these long range high damage archers they are just as effective as i am in melee range (if not better)!
In high level 5v5 premades i’m sure there is some sort of “balance” but for random search games rangers seems to be unstoppable if they know what they’re doing.
No different than a warrior with a hammer…
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
In high level 5v5 premades i’m sure there is some sort of “balance” but for random search games rangers seems to be unstoppable if they know what they’re doing.
I believe that’s the case with every class really, not just rangers.
It would be kind of nice to know what build you are running so the people responding can give specific and solid advice to you.
Some general tips for you as a warrior though; if a ranger is on a “perch” and you have to travel a route to get to them, some general advice would be to leave it to another class unless you can actually get there while taking minimal to know damage and stay there to damage the ranger by having a near perfect ability to Dodge Point Blank Shot or stability to “eat” it.
Otherwise, just let your team handle the perch (call target on the ranger, a free casting zerk ranger is a top priority target in a teamfight) and if you are running LB or the less common rifle, pressure them, as they won’t be able to take much damage in that perched location without backing off and resetting at the very least.
Outside of that, I’d say that outside of a Mace, Shield, AND offhand sword set with the reflect build gimmick, you are really just going to have a bad time against any competent ranger because most competent rangers have become extremely good at kiting classes that don’t have instant traversal skill.
Also, Armor rating in this game making virtually no difference. It’s something like a miniscule 3-4% base damage difference, and armor simply does not save you in this game. The skill to dodge, move, engage, and use mitigation skills appropriately is what is needed.

In sPVP range means much less then in Wvw because you are suppose to get points so you are stuck in place pretty much. Warrior I will not tell you which build to run because I hate playing vs warrior in certain build haha it starts with ham and rest is peace haha.
