Is it worth creating a Condi ranger now?
DnT claim it is better than zerker if the fight lasts a while, which I can see being correct. Others here on the forum have calculated that Condi ranger can match condi engineer, if the target is somewhat stationary. I’m referring to the A/0 – 0/T build.
I think they said longer than 24 seconds? I think it may also have better AOE for dealing with trashmobs as well.
Engi has highest condi dps but the trade-off is its difficulty to play I guess.
Condi ranger will probably be acceptable in raids. It has very high damage.
Yeah, the Ranger rotation is so simple that I would never play the engineer one which is like learning to speed touch type all over again.
If I remember right the engi DPS rotation is like 46 steps.
I just recently switched over my zerker gear to condi gear in the forge. It was a little scary I’ll admit as I love power builds. The condi ranger does do really nice damage though. I think the highest I ever got was 7K burn ticks with 4K bleed ticks. The poison was ticking low like 300 and the axe autos were critting for 500 ish. I modified the build a bit with nature magic just for the boon duration and might sharing with my pet. I noticed my lynx hitting for 4K after that on some its attacks. Probably a dps loss over DnT’s build though.
The really nice thing about it was the AOE on its attacks. It felt powerful in that regard. It is a little white knuckle for me, its really squishy and you do have to get pretty close to the big baddies to drop traps and bonfire. The precast animation on bonfire doesn’t help. Having traps ground targetable again would really help with this build I feel. Or mobile spirits. Or both.

Lol. Too much for fun play, for my liking anyway. Ranger’s would be 1/4 of that.

Well, I think sword can be quite a bit “white knuckle” too for the same reasons and you really have to make sure you do not miss the red circle tell and do another leap or two, so A/T would be a nice change. Thinking I’ll make up a set when I get home so I can play condi as well.
condi ranger is better dps on everything but structures as long as the fight goes more than ~20s. If you’re going to go condi food is really important and so is viper gear > sinister. You really need the condi duration to make the most of your dps. Another big part of that playstyle is making use of quickdraw for bonfire, it cuts the recharge time down to ~6s so you get a lot of burn stacks.
I don’t think it comes that close to engi just because they can apply multiple conditions in the same rotation and our build tends to put burns on primarily with a few bleed and poison stacks. sinister engi dps was something crazy like 20k+ where sinister ranger was around 17k+.

Yeah, but in practice that engi DPS will never be realised. It was calculated without aftercast and with perfect rotations, as said above, that is 46 seperate actions. Very few people could do that. Ranger rotation is simple and anyone can master it, so the difference is not big. Not worth worrying about anyway.
Condi ranger got crazy buff with HOT, with improved pets and the ability to stack might very high and very fast( Celec amulter FTW) and rune of Rune of the Aristocracy coming to PVP.

SOTP and Entangle, both good options.

very very true.
that optimal rotation is the main reason why i don’t play engi, i can’t dance on my keyboard.
