Hello, the title says it all. I used to pvp as a short bow condi ranger way back when and then i left to go back to Wow. Well now I want to return to the game and was given a free max level booster and now I am trying to decide if its worth it to boost a ranger. I mainly like to pvp and i like the idea of conditions and boons. I hear that druids are now a very popular thing(that is the thing with the spirits right). My playstyle is alot of dodging and run and gunning. Any opinions and information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Level doesn’t mean anything in PvP, everyone is level 80. You could use a level 80 ranger in WvW.

When I last played Short bow was decent but nothing spectacular, is it still this way or did they finally give the Short bow the buff it so desperately needed. Also, how good would a level 80 ranger be in a pve setting, as seeing that level means nothing in pvp as you just outlined to me.

Ranger SB is usually viewed as one of the worst weapons across all professions, but it’s usable. All professions are equally fine for PvE, and healing druids are in demand for raids if that’s what you meant. Raids are the only place where anyone cares what profession you are.

What about the Longbow, is that still a thing or is that no more.

Your “playstyle” sounds a bit like thief, check them out for a ton of dodging (their elite spec Daredevil gives then 3 dodges instead of 2 with many way enhance your dodging)

On a side note, I used my lv 80 booster on my Ranger and I don’t regret it, it has became one of my favourite classes. I use LB/GS power built though. For Condi Axe with Torch is the big one. Definitely try a little bit of all classes before deciding on the booster to make sure you are comfortable with the decision. All the Elite specs are more popular because they enhance the classes very nicely, not just Druid, but all of them
I’d suggest leveling the character up to at least lv 20 before boosting so you get a feel for the class to belp with the decision.

Warrior also fits the “run and gun” description as it’s elite spec, Beserker, can use a very strong Rifle able to nearly if not do one shot people if built right.

I still haven’t used by 80 boost; I enjoy leveling and getting feel for class that way. And levelling is quick in this game, XP boost and gain levels like a slot machine.

All subjective; I started as a Ranger; went to Guardian and got that to 80 first, went back got Ranger to 80 and LOVE Druid. But I love the heals. I also love it’s DPS playstyle I go GS/LB or GS/Staff or Sword/X – and pets! That being said, I agree your style may be better for Thief.

Also, you CAN “test” a class use boost on lvl 1 char – do NOT leave silverwastes or finalize boost.

I mained a ranger for almost 3 years. I enjoyed it, but the lack of AoE/cleave and low personal DPS really got to me after a while. I sometimes think about playing my ranger again…but every time I try, it feels like I’m slogging through mud.

I mained an elementalist for 4 years and couldn’t beat hearts and minds,leveled a ranger and beat hearts and minds on my second try,only died in the gliding stage where i couldn’t get in the air.
