Guild Wars 2

Just curious. I hear them talk about Warrior and Mesmer and Thief and Engineer, but I have yet to see one well-known (or even obscure) dev say they main a Ranger.

Note that I main Ranger and enjoy the class. Mostly, I’m just curious.

Given the overwhelming lack of response, I assume the answer is “no devs play Ranger main.”

Izzy Cartwright has a ranger. Not a very good one, but I can see why you wouldn’t want to waste your time playing a game you’ve spent years making. It’d just be ridiculously monotonous when you already know all the code by heart.

Last I checked he ran MF-specced bearbow, I dunno what he uses now that they took MF out.

On the livestream he did talking about rangers, he said he prefers a meta-esque build. Panther was his favorite pet, he only uses berserker gear with scholar runes. He said you should resist the tempation to use things like sharpening stone or bearbow, etc.

He may have been pandering to us since there was talk about him showing off a bearbow, but anyway. That’s what he said.

Devs may have rangers for “Bank Slot”
If any of us are a good gamer and pays attention on Ranger, they could know what to fix ASAP. Doesn’t happen, so no, they don’t PLAY ranger.

From what I hear, there used to be a dev that mained a ranger, but he is no longer, and hence, I believe the answer is no

Robert H was an Anet ranger main and confirmed that there were others scattered amongst Anet and most people at least had a ranger alt. but he left, so I guess he’s not counted anymore.

Well it was like two years ago. Maybe it was Hrouda that I was thinking of.

Either way cool guy, maybe now the pro-bearbows will thin out ever so slightly.

ive seen 2 anet people playing rangers, not sure if they were testing to see if viable or just having fun. this was at grenth and jungle worm in the last 2 weeks.

There’s a dev on our server who runs ranger but I don’t remember the name. I just remember getting my daily reviver off her a couple months ago in the skritt caves while doing completion on my thief… :/

There was one back before I transferred from devona’s rest to carnished toast ;D
it was a female charr ranger – but this was months before the lions arch invasion.

I would be certain that there has to be a dev on the balance team that, if not yet, will eventually sinking a bunch of time into playing ranger. There are a lot of different variables in that answer, like admitting that it probably isn’t their main or first choice of class, and there is the potential that these devs don’t even play the class on live servers, so that they can play around with values and skills and ideas and such as they play.

Have yet to meet any Dev ranger running on EU servers.
Or any Dev.

Tyler from the WvW team has a ranger he plays from time to time, however his main is an engi. He plays on Tarnished Coast (atleast until leagues is over)

I just took a look at the latest live stream video and I felt compelled to bump this thread. Take a look at this dev’s, uh… confusing build. I wish I could see the traits.

Yes, D*rpy Bearbow think he/she is fully decked out in ascended gear and iirc had legendary. Last time I saw this ranger was in a TTS organized gold boss blitz raid.

So it cames funny when the “only” Dev plays the hated Bearbow or just condibunker sometimes. Not a unique one at all.
Can we lose the hope now??

Well actually they do state in the video it’s been a very long time since they’ve played Ranger because they fell in love with the Mesmer and it’s skills.

Apparently they do not see the problem here that they’ve just demonstrated in their video.

I can’t remember the exact point in which they state that they haven’t played their Ranger in such a long time, but it’s certainly in there if you wish to watch the whole thing.

the dev defo only has about 100points in vit most likley 10 in nature magic for spirit to strenght though he don’t have enough vit to make any use of it ..
