what are you people DOING?!?! I guess if you just do dungeons you might feel sub-par. My ranger is awesome in wvw and spvp. and my first main was an engineer I leveled to 80 doing only wvw. Go kill some real players for a pick-me-up.

Going to quote you for truth here again, as I was just telling my friend yesterday how there is just no possible way that this is the same devs/live-team from GW1. The quality differences (across every aspect of the game) are staggering.

I just want the “pet running 20ft in front of me” & “sword roots you” fixed. My pet should be RIGHT NEXT TO ME all the time unless he’s fighting. & the 1h sword rooting & yanking me all over the place sucks.

Try going from Ranger melee to Guardian melee. Guardians stop attacking the second the target moves. Believe me, you’ll miss that yanking all over the place when you have to reposition one step forward every few seconds. I’m not talking about mobs that run away, they just make things worse, I’m talking about the ones that just move slightly like drakes. That’s the one thing I hate about Guardian that the Ranger does infinitely better.

Funny, I didnt miss it at all. Sure its easier to stick to targets when you can just spam 1 and leap towards them but its also easier to get hit since you cant dodge while doing it. Ranger sucks, sorry.

QFT. Only the nubbins that solely live in sPvP-ville or WvW-ville like the “sword-root” because it’s OP there, because you basically stick to your target instead of requiring manual repositioning like every other class and weapon set in the game.

I myself have made multiple topics on that subject alone. The more civilized, well-versed crowd that does lots of content gets it. The tools who prefer to maintain an unfair advantage over other players in PvP/WvW, don’t (well they DO – they will just tell you that you suck, and to live with it).

And you are correct that it makes dodging near-impossible. That is the main disadvantage of the ‘sword-root’ issue, beyond animation lock.

Sorry, but I have a level 80 Necro, Ranger, Warrior, and Thief – and I have NO ISSUES staying on my targets. It’s a L2Play issue, almost bordering on exploit if you ask me…though technically not, since you’re using the skill ‘as designed.’ Har har.

Idk wtf a nubbin is, but you are obviously biased against pvpers. Im a pvper, but pve isnt hard, I do that with relative ease as well. Also I dont think you read my post, I dont like the sword root. I like guardians sword style more so, I only like the animations of ranger sword attacks. Honestly maybe you can explain your post more clearly, I didnt quite understand it you are flaming me or agreeing with me.

I learned to accept that whatever class I use, whether it’s this or necro, will never be as good or liked as warrior and guardian, moved on, and just enjoyed the game. And it’s fun.

Well, they are celebrating loudly over in the Necro forum, so I guess we are now unequivocally the most broken and under powered class with not even a hint of redemption from ANet in the future or any mention of why we continue to be left in the dust. My jaw just about hit the floor when I saw the very nice improvements for thieves and guardians and nerfs for us.

I don’t need to be the FOTM class, or stomping everyone I meet, but at this point being a WvW Bow ranger is just a joke. We bring nothing to the table, and are a liability to our groups. With sadness in my heart, I started my first alt last night. Once it’s 80, my commander icon’ed, full ascendant ranger will be put on the shelf for good.

They aren’t listening at all are they? We just need someone to tell us something, it’s not much to ask. Just tell us if it will never be fixed, tell us if it will take months and months to address, just so that we know whether we should stick to it or if we are wasting our time and to roll a different class all over again. Don’t they understand our frustrations? It’s an unfinished class that shouldn’t have been released. If it won’t be fixed by mid 2013 I’d like to know so I don’t waste my play time for another number of months waiting for nothing.

Anet said that there will be a major ranger update ala elementalist , ritualist and mesmer updates back during the Guild Wars 1 days. Guild Wars 2 had time to get released.

That video is excellent.

I dont see much a problem with Ranger since I play her every once in a while in Orr or some dungeon runs. I use a Sb/LB evasive survival build with hardly any need for pet but use the murellow (because they have that poison AoE) and lastail for the poison and bleeding range along with the burrowing evade they have.

Rangers with pets are not hard to play as long as you know which ones to use and can switch them out right before death. I can see how alot of rangers are afraid to use any kind of bear because they were the pets of champions for farming bots.

I know its been a long while any anet has been making promise. Though we do have to remember that Rangers were the most used by botters and they might be trying to take care of the security of the game before buffing up the ranger some because there are still botters out there in the game more than likely farming low tiered populated servers. Until then best most can do is just roll another toon and enjoy the game and cross fingers I already have and been having alot more fun with the variety of playstyle.

I think if ANet just came out and said that, a LOT of us would understand. We wouldn’t kittening like it, but it’s infinitely better than this current lack of communication… this waiting limbo. Really, ANet could just about say anything right now and calm a lot of us down. We just want to know where we stand, even if it’s exactly where we are.

Lol, I understand that you don’t like the sword root, and I was agreeing with you. I’m not biased against PvPers at all either, I was referring to those few who basically all they do is PvP, and make judgements on how skills should work based solely on their own PvP experiences. In this case, I feel that Sword 1 is somewhat too advantageous (borderline OP), and that certain PvPers would like it to remain that way for obvious reasons. That’s all, no flames intended. Also I edited my other post, as perhaps my facetious attitude was misleading.

It’s been 6 months… and the last 3 months on my thief have been wonderful.

In PvE, rangers are terrific. WvW? Sad…
