Just wondering what was being worked on atm, and if there was anything for us rangers to get excited about. This is not a thread to make suggestions, was simply hoping for a response on possible upcoming balances and reworkings to our class. Any response from a dev would be appreciated. TY

I’m curious about this too…. btw do we even have a date when this will be going down?

I’d speculate some spirit work and signet work. Nothing much else. Our signet passives and actives are kind of weak, even if traited for Signet of the Beastmaster. I hope for some more on demand condition removal options as well since we really lack that.

I mean really, 35 toughness at lvl 80 for Signet of Stone? At least give us half the pet’s toughness (+60 is what I’m asking). 35 would be nice at level 5, not 80.

I thought it was 70 for both of us? Don’t know i haven’t touched sig of stone since Beta (well that’s a lie i use sig of stone in zerg v zerg combat every now and again)

And they said they were going to buff up pretty much all of our utility (not all in one patch) so i’m excited to see what’s in store, maybe some love for my beloved spirits =D!

Signet of Stone 120s Recharge time

Passive: Improves toughness for you and your pet.
Active: Your pet takes no damage from attacks.

Duration: 6 s

Gives 35 Toughness to the player at level 80
Gives 120 Toughness to the pet at level 80

Really hoping for some decent improvements; especially for the Signets.

i’m gonna speculate they’re gonna try and fix the dead pet healing underwater glitch….

it’s absolutely game breaking underwater, and i rely on it constantly as a crutch in any bad situation (hey i’m losing, and it’s a 2v1? well i’m gonna try and last as long as possible so i’m gonna hop into that water and face-tank them, kill 1 and then force the other to rage quit in frustration)

Why fix what isn’t broken? Your pet is basically someone that’s reviving you. If your opponent shows any form of intelligence, they would know that reviving goes faster than someone dealing damage and that they should interrupt the one that is reviving.

That is all… But yes, it is kinda sad when we need to jump into the water as Rangers in order to stand a chance; because we’re pretty lackluster when it comes to fighting on land.

Jack of all trades, master of none. Unless we’re meant to only function underwater.

Underwater combat isnt important, idk why they would waste time on anything related too it. They should leave lick wounds alone, so what if we are the best at something in this game, people crying are just people used to eating rangers alive in or out of water.

They should show all kinds of damage mitigation for pets…not just agony, pets have no survivability unless traited for, and not everyone wants to be a BM.

Underwater combat -is- important, it’s 1/3 of the game (which a lot of players ignore because they’re hydrophobic), that being said though we should get some love on land too. Hopefully our spirits and signets will get some love, i feel like the shouts are in a good place right now after the buff, and then the survival skills have always been in a good place.

Funny how they dev know about all the issue’s currently with the Ranger Class, but haven’t posted to any topics in over a month on this section of forums. They already know what is done and ready for the fixes and updates. So why haven’t we heard anything from them?

Judging by the increase in rangers playing in WvWvW, I would venture to say that the past fixes have been good to us. Any further balance must be made with careful precision to prevent us from becoming monsters.

No, its not important, its fun. Saying its 1/3rd of the game is BS, how many spvp maps have water in it? 3. Only one of them has an actual reason for underwater combat and no1 likes that map. How many underwater dungeons paths are underwater? Im guessing very few, 2 paths in hotw, and several in FoTM. How many times do you end up fighting underwater in wvw as opposed to on land. Most likely very little, they need to focus on our combat abilities on land instead of in the kittening water.

Past fixes have been good, but it seems most rangers playing atm are because the skill Guard, and because underwater combat is our turf.

Pets need to be better without investing into BM, and investment into BM needs to be rewarded with non-garbage traits. Power builds need to be made viable either by removing our subpar survivability when we run them, or by rewarding our investment with the power other cannons have without burning an entire bar, a few utilities and our elites.

Base weapon damage also needs to be raised slightly.

Oh leuca, my good friend, you are so eloquent. Ive been saying that for so long and yet you sum it up much better. Im too rough for these delicate procedings. I agree wholeheartedly. In a small well put paragraph you summed up most of whats wrong with ranger. I do think they should go the route WoW went and make it so pet isnt 50% of our dps unless we go into the PET TRAIT LINE, and maybe fix our traits to synergize better and not be in such random kitten places. Like traps being in skirmishing line….Just a thought anet.

I did forget one thing: Make the other 75% of our utilities not suck. Making do with LR, Renewal, etc is one thing; having them be comparable to utilities that have the same idea behind them would be just fantastic. There’s just so much conceptually wrong with a lot of the professions; this game was not released when it was “ready.”

Oh and there goes the Eloquence :P Point remains tho, and I agree once again. kitten gets old seeing how garbage our skills are. Pretty sure most classes can pick a utility and have some use for it without having to run a super specific build. Protect me? Nope, sucks without bear pet or BM traits, even then….Signets? nope, suck without traits, gotta waste 2 traits just to make them worth using. DPS pets? Nope because they die in 3 seconds. Any weapon we want? Nope because most of them are weak. Traps with a power crit build? Nope because they dont scale well with power. QZ doesnt break stuns either, it should, idk why this is the only quickness utility skill that doesnt break stuns, although I could be wrong. Its just….exasperating.

Yes cause we have all come to trust in anets ability to do math right? Shortbow nerf any1? no, its not 1/3rd of the game, learn to count. Idc if you like the map, you are one of few, what about the other maps? Temple has underwater spot, 1 small spot, and forest has a super small spot with water, thats it. How many zones had you in water most of the zone? I can think of maybe 3, straits, orr, bloodtide, I admit I didnt do every zone, but from the looks of it, it seemed closer to 1/4th of the pve game at best. Im not speaking for anyones opinion, im just going based on what others have told me. You are the first to have said you liked this map to me anyways. Either way, underwater combat isnt 1/3rd of the game. It is unimportant, atleast when compared to the many issues this game has.

Timber Falls, all ascalon ones have at least one section, all of kryta has at least one area filled with events that are all aquatic based, all orr zones have a very hefty portion that’s underwater, just because you don’t go to it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Caeledon Forest has a HUGE section that’s underwater and has 3 hearts aligned with the under water section and even a 5(number may be wrong) step meta event tied to it.

Underwater is a HUGE aspect of the game, just because -you- and all the other hydrophobes completely ignore the water sections and refuse to do a single event in them (ESPECIALLY in straits of desolation) doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter. And Forest doesn’t count, period, that’s not in a strategic location at all, the temple on the other hand, i’ve had all out wars going on in there over that stupid control all points thing, people get thrown into the water and people jump in after, jumping through the shoots in the top straight into water for escape etc. It’s a violent location….

And people hate Capricorn because they’re afraid of underwater combat for what ever reason, it makes absolutely no sense. The map is fine now that the sharks have been nerfed (before hand it was pretty stupidly broken), and i’ve actually et a lot of people that share my enjoyment of the map now that it’s been balanced better.

A few underwater events isnt what I mean, Im talking about like they spend half their time from that zone in the water. I can only think of a few. If saying that underwater combat is important because we take a dip in the lake every now and then, then Im sorry but Im gonna have a different opinion. Also yea I dont get why people fear underwater combat either, but they could just go warrior or ranger and feel at home in the water. Hell even engineer.

My sixth sense told me that we ranger won’t get any life-changing improvement in next patch.
My guess next balanced patch:
Mesmer: huge buff
Guardian: small nerf
Thief: small nerf
Ele: small buff
Ranger: nothing significant
Engi: huge buff
Necro: huge buff
Warrior: constant buff as usual

My guess is assuming that Anet’s mechanism to balance classes is based on number of playing each class(they should have that statistics data easily) but not the true skill balance. Simply becoz if everyone think certain class is OP, most of them will just reroll it which lead that class overcrowded. vise versa. In fact this is sorta naturally balanced and easy to be tracked. But well, this rule does not apply to warriors coz everyone know that they will be buffed by default anyway.

Well they DID admit they are aware of Signets and Shouts not being in par with most other professions last year. No more info on that since then, except for the supposed buffs of Sick Em and SaR.
However.. Issues such as senseless traitlines with no coherence or synergy, or even viable traits for that matter, is what bothers me the most. Thr majority of all traits are currently either bugged and or simply useless.

Not a red marker in sight the Ranger forum for quite a while now. Whered you go Colin? I know your reason for not posting is that you are working on changes, but honestly; posting a small reply to a yes/no question really doesnt take that long.

Not a red marker in sight the Ranger forum for quite a while now. Whered you go Colin? I know your reason for not posting is that you are working on changes, but honestly; posting a small reply to a yes/no question really doesnt take that long.

TLDR Sigh

Yea like 2 months ago. They shoulda fixed the obstruction bug by now also and yet they havent. Dont expect anything at all.

Im not expecting anything as long as we dont get any information on what theyre even thinking about fixing.

Seriously if the Devs arent giving us any info due to the community just getting angry about how minor they are (which is what has happened so far) the problem is kind of rooted in the changes being minor (as opposed to what we actuqlly expected based on Red Posts), not the community being “ungrateful” (although some people seem so overreact).

As stated before, Devs, give us what you have to offer as FAST as you can. I certainly dont need changes to come in bulks as they have done up to this point. Spread it out. And for the love of god let us know whats going on; work WITH us not against your customers/fellow players.

Im sure you guys know a lot of stuff regarding mechanics and technicalities, but as players we PLAY and EXPERIENCE the game without any development cycles in our backpacks, our views MATTER in different ways than yours as Devs do.

The neglection of the Ranger so far leaves me as an old GW1 player feeling kind of out of the loop.

January balances? any work in the mix, devs?

Im with you, my thing is, anet should listen too the customers more. We as players know what needs changing more than they do who are most likely distant from what every class needs. When people say rangers need a stow pet option with a damage buff, its not just a want for some people but a need, I think atleast half the rangers I talk too and see post want this option, they should impliment it. I get they want us to be a pet class but dont force us, most likely given the option, we would choose a pet from time to time. They have tons of uses but are just a bother most of the time. Also fixing obstruction bug should be taken seriously, and maybe buffing or reworking the longbow and alot of the traits, yet anet hasnt even touched up on any of these aside from making arrows move faster ( which is amazing, ty anet ) and buffing a few traits that benefit the meta build…. Im sick of this meta build being their only concern, they need to start focus on making other builds viable, and not just small stuff at a time.

They should do 1 big kitten patch for rangers, give us a kitten fan week where for that week we get the more popular changes we want, and then adjust from there. Maybe that would give them an idea better than tweaking small unimportant skills at a time. Like combing piercing arrows with eagle eye, or quick draw. Making signet of the beast master disappear and have signets affect both pet and player, and making signets have a 90 second cd without being traited. Buff spirits health ALOT, change their activation effects to be more interesting, make traps scale with power, lightning reflexes to remove all snares and immobilizes when used, and QZ breaking stuns to be on par with other skills. Oh yea, and protect me teleports pet too your location, lets ittake 50-90% less damage during it, and guard is now our f3. Move some kitten traits around so they make sense, and synergize, get rid of a few, add a few, revert the shortbow attack speed nerf, make rapid fire match volley, make LRS do the same damage, increase its damage by 15-20% at all distances but gain 10/20/30% crit chance at each distances. Add cripple to hunters shot, maybe some more damage, and make point blank have more damage as well.

Sorry for the rant, my wish list overtook me, I just feel that not only do I agree with most players nowdays, but have come up with a few ideas myself, and have really hoped by now anet would impliment some of them, yet nothing has happened aside from making arrows move faster, its too slow anet. Speed it up by about 50% :P By that I mean the rate in which you fix or change classes, arrow speed could be increased another 20% which would be great.
