After being gone for the last several months, I’m trying to get back into the game and was wondering, with the new changes, are there any viable builds that focus on the SB for WvW or PvP? I saw one awhile back that was a hybrid version using mostly celestial gear and tried to balance raw damage with conditions. Not so sure how that would work…
As I have always played some variant of the power ranger, I thought it would be fun to try our a more condition build that has decent survival skills. I’ve tried an all melee build and just didn’t care for it all that much. For me, a “ranger” just needs to use a bow…
Any suggestions?

Short bow synergises quite well with condi (trapper ranger) but aside that theres none that I know of other than maybe a zoo build (using hyenas, sun spirits, pirate runes, quite a niche build which is also quite funny and decent)

Yeah, I looked at the trapper build and it just wasn’t my thing. What is this zoo build you’re talking about?
Basically what he just said. Heyena summons an ally heyena and pirate runes give you a bird, so you end up with 3 pets at once. I run a power version with wolf for my other pet. You have a ton of cc with taunt, wolf knockdown, heyena knockdown x 2 ( make sure to let your 1st heyena use his before summoning 2nd) and fear. Meanwhile the bird is striking for about 2k and you are doing your own damage.
SB is one of the worst weapons in the entire game… dead serious… its the worst option you can take… if you want a condi focused builds, S+T and A+D is better

It’s a build based around the shortbow as a main weapon to deliver very quickly many stacks of bleeds with long duration.
And greatsword as a backup plan for the cc and swoop escape but also for burst as the build has high power on top of high crit chance and condi dmg.
It is squishy but survivability will really depend on matchup and skill level.
Guard is used here really just for the swiftness/regen and stealth taunts which can be deadly with double raven.
The heal is troll onguent as it removes conditions and make offensive tactics easier.
SB tip: sometimes it can be worth it to switch to greatsword before entering combat to get the quickdraw bonus enabled on concussion shot

Check out the build thread in my sig mate, there are a lot of SB builds in there for PvP and a couple for WvW, should be able to come up with something nice using those as a starting point.

These shortbow builds are either outdated or just bad
In spvp the only way shortbow may work is with sharpening edge + sigil of earth and high crit chance which means mandatory rabbid or rampager amulet
