So, buildcraft still doesnt have settler gear, so I used Apoth instead. All armor/weapons are Settlers, for extra toughness, but Apoth still works just as well. I still stack corruption stacks.
However I opted for maximum protection with this build given that our pets are essentially useless, and even more so when ascended weapons hit, so, I went with…
1) 4 runes of the Groves for protection on hit.
2) 2x Dwayna runes for the extra healing and still retain the 20% regen duration coupled with Natures Bounty.
3) Vigor on healing from Vigourous Renewal for more lol protection
4) Primal reflexes for 5s of vigor every 15s for more lol protection off dodge
5) Dodging removes blind and poison ( lol )
6) Natures Protection for 5s of lol protection every 30s
7) LR for even more Vigor for more lol protection
Basically with Grove turning all your 2s protections into 3s, 4s protections into 5s etc etc.
Timed correctly in addition to Bark Skin and your foes having constant Weakness from AXE 3, it’s lolzy.
pvp build I assume? I know you like to roam in WvW but that is tough without speed or weapon mobility (although I know you are good with sword doing the about face)

why not to go for “stone spirit” + 100% protection duration with rune of earth?
in this way you get 6sec of protection every 10 sec (60% uptime only with your spirit) + 8sec protection every 30sec (with a 25% triggering chance) from runes! that is what i can define a protection build

It’s a very similar trait setup, with our builds taking different focuses. But with some rune swaps, and gear preference swaps, I’m sure it can be made into a protection build. For instance, what I have posted has 25% boon duration from nature magic. Then take 2x Earth for another 20% on protection. Then you may as well start stacking boon duration, unless that 25% to get 4s of protection is that important to you.
Otherwise, the build is focused entirely on making protection from dodge rolls and Nature’s Protection as long as possible. But with 2x Monk Runes and 2x Water runes, you’d now end up with a grand total of 88% regen duration and 75% protection duration, with 55% of that being just base +boon duration, which in the particular build I posted up, makes the fury on weapon swap that is so useful to that build last almost 8s. Meaning basically perma-fury too, as long as continuous weapon swaps are being made.
Interesting, but I want to see the part where you fight vs a condition build with barkskin, toughness and protection being your main defence.
I like the idea behind bark skin but you give up like 50% of rangers potential condition removal by using it.. so unless you are running HS and SoR, and probably condition reduction food too, you are going to be royally screwed by a necro or condition ranger.

I run a probably permanent protection build and I would suggest going with the 2x sup water, 2x major water, and 2x superior monk runes on your armor. You need all the boon duration you can get to keep protection on you, plus boon duration helps your regen and other buffs stay on you longer. When you dodge you gain protection as well, and if you have the stamina regen trait when casting heals then every time your healing spring ticks regen you and part memberr will also get the stamina regen with it. You should have excess amount of protection just from dodge rolling in your field.
Im not positive but i think bark skin stacks with protection.
You can also give yourself and allies perma fury/swift if you eat boon duration food and use warhorn with offhand training.
Also run with your stone spirit and one of your pets has an AOE shout that gives protection. THis will also give your party members protection as well.
This will also have good synergy with a retaliation/aegis guardian if you have one in your groups since they heal for more with more buffs on and more people around them.
