Guild Wars 2

So I was able to actually see the longbow and short bow on my character today. I have 3 of the 4 parts for the shortbow but after seeing what they actually look like, I will be selling what I can on the TP. Both bows look like absolute crap.

Both bows are as fruity as you can get. I guess Anet thought only females played rangers.

But it has a pony on it, and internet culture tells me that grown men liking ponies is funny thus it is cool. I can see the neckbeardiest of the neckbeard ANet employees fistbumping over how hilarious and epic a rainbow pony bow will be.

Yeah, both bows look pretty outrageous, and by “pretty”, I really do mean "pretty. _ I guess it fits the whole Ranger psyche, but only for the Kudzu. The legendary Longbow seems like it was fashioned inside the densest forest in all of Tyria. Still, it doesn’t look good to me. As for the Dreamer, the legendary shortbow, I have no idea what the devs have been smoking the night they conceptualized it. I mean, really? A bow with head of a pony built into it? -_-

Here’s to hoping they add more legendary weapons. I’ve stopped crafting the moment I saw screenshots of them. No complaints on the immense difficulty to attain them, but as it stands, I am going to waste my time getting my crafting up, since the only reason I craft is for the legendary stuff.

I haven’t seen them yet. could someone please upload a screenshot or give me a link to where I can see them?

I want that shortbow.

I have to agree. I will level a Ranger as a possible main for the ranged focus… but they are just… no. I don’t see me wanting those on my character with kitten looking gear.

Qtin you are obviously trolling… as for on topic I agree I think the shortbow is cute and all.. but yea I dont want rainbows all the time =P and the Longbow however much it reminds me of my old vanilla WoW bow/staff its not that interesting.

What level are you ? level 80 longbow does less than half shortbow damage output. There is no match. The only way longbow may come close to shortbow, is when you stand still hitting a non-moving target from 1200 range, when does that happen ? never.

I’m lvl 80, fully exotic geared, I have both short and long bows, exotic craft. And I did some serious testing before I came here to tell you that longbow sucks … It does suck, period.

One of the many tests I did, pull 3 mobs, try to kill them with shortbow, then do the same with a longbow, try this yourself you’ll throw that longbow to the recycle bin pretty fast.

By mentioning 100b warr I meant going for “the best option” instead of one that gives most fun. Actually all longbow skills are good, only (1) is bad – oposite to shortbow, where (1) is only good skill :P
I didn’t call you uneducated, but I hate when someone makes total crap from somthing that is perfectly viable, just could use slight buff.

errr and 3 which does decent damage and makes you DO more damage, then you have 4 which is like the best thing ever.. you know how bosses have STACKS of cc immunitity.. yea save this for when they go down and stop someone from getting killed.. yea it does damage too.. oh and 5 our best aoe(if you dont look at the cd wink)

Then again I’m a sylvari ranger, so I suppose it fits better then it would for other races.

I wish I could get myself to use Longbows to be honest.
They look so cool on my Sylvari and all that, unfortunately they are not so good compared to Shortbows. I also tend to get bored watching the Longbow (1), put on some fast music and run around with the Shortbow ftw.

It’s like comparing a camping sniper in COD vs Quake :P

That being said, it’s such a shame they made a joke out of the Shortbow skin =/

I’m a female and I don’t really like the Legendary shortbow. I do, however, like the longbow. It’s not really “girly” looking, IMO; it looks like a plant. Are sylvari “girly?”

I would really like to see a big heavy, chunky longbow made for a norn/charr/human.

Sylvari, mlp fans, et al, can keep their ponies and flowers. I think it is cool that Anet have made something for them – it gets kinda boring when every legendary of every game is a big flaming thing with spikes everywhere, etc.

A very large portion of the weapons in this game look stupid. The designs are just way too over the top.

I don’t understand why almost all of the game’s art (loading screens, promotional material, etc…) is outstanding (complete with lots of simple/elegant looking weapons/armor), but all the in game stuff looks like it does. There is a huge disconnect between the two.

Well Kudzu looks amazing and if you think otherwise you should be shot and stabbed… As for dreamer it makes me want to use it purely because of how trollzy it is!! MY RAINBOWS WILL BLOCK OUT THE SUN!!

I want the bow to look like the one from the movie “Immortals”

I wish there were some nice skins that actually looked like bows for more serious players.

Strike fear? In internet game? O.o The only way is to use gear that shows you play a lot, so MAYBE someone will think that means you are more dangerous in PvP.

Well when I kill them they will know, and dont take it so seriously. I do prefere looking cool to looking fruity as kitten and looking like a wtfbrony. In all honesty Id prefere a simple looking longbow that happens to be my height, remnance of dragos flatbow, that thing was enormous.

@Dante Dragonhand Yes, and when i kill you with 1000 rainbows flying out of a unicorn bow you’ll flip your desk over and curbstomp your computer… Especially from some of your comments regarding it lol!!

Doubt it, I just dont want it because I like looking good not silly.

I think the bow is awesome just as it is. As a matter of fact when it was first leaked I know a lot of people who were very pleased.

Look at the other legendary weapons and they may look “over the top” but they aren’t some trolls wet dream. The main problem I have is that the legendary weapons actually do have more damage then the exotics at level 80. It may be a small difference but the difference makes them BiS.

Because the legendaries have more damage ,and therefore are the best weapon for their respective categories, means that in order to min/max your char you need these weapons.

No self respecting non troll is going to want these weapons period. ANet took a serious dump on rangers with these skins. They apeal to trolls, bronies, or really girly girls.

The only option for Min/Max and not look like a total idiot is to get the legendary and transmute it. Its mind blowing that ANet would do something this ridiculous.

I think that having only the, hm, “festive” look for the bows was simply a business / design mistake. Setting aside the whole good/bad distinction as a matter of anyone’s personal opinion, I believe very firmly that you did not have to be the Amazing Swami, Reader of the Crystal Ball, to guess that a significant portion of the player base would not be interested in a unicorn bow shooting rainbows. A Light vs Dark option would have likely taken very little effort. That said, I just used the transmute option and consider my bow a “stealth” version.

I think they look great.

I don’t get why they went to the trouble of creating 3 different GS legendaries but when it came to shortbow they only made 1 even though anybody with half a brain can see that a significant portion of their fanbase would hate it. Not to mention while all the others fit into the universe and look good, this is based on a fad. What next, new dungeons based on Jersey Shore and the sound track replaced with Rick Astley? You would think in their need to do everything as different from WoW as possible they wouldn’t chose this as the thing to copy.

I can’t comment on the Longbow since I haven’t seen it properly yet.

I see a lot of people talking about the shortbow “shooting rainbows” Does it really do this or are people just guessing/hoping it does?

I will go for the Shortbow because its kitten hilarious. Then I will go for the Warhorn, since I ALWAYS use a Warhorn in WvW and PvE.

Heh, makes me glad I chose a weaker but cooler build with a greatsword as main weapon.

I dont pve much but I might get a legendary and change the skin for WvW just for the damage it provides.

I don’t think you understand the full scope of firing rainbows.

These are actually the only two legendaries I have all that much interest in, honestly.

What most people would probably prefer would likely end up boring me to death. I can appreciate dark, brutal, etc. designs, but unless you go extremely over-the-top in that respect, it just ends up being rather dull, and even if you do, things still tend to run together a bit much.

So I for one welcome our Rainbow Unicorn overlords.

I’m a girl and hate both of the bows. Personally, I prefer Longbow over Shortbow but unicorns…? Idunno, I expected something pretty epic for the better weapons in the game. These bows would be fun maybe as exotics, but I don’t see these as the best. That’s just my opinion, hopefully there will be more designs in the near future.

I think the Dreamer was just meant to be fantasy based. Not brony pandering.
