Guild Wars 2

With guesting around I figured it was a good time to help the community get pets. You have to collect them all because they’re all so fun…and deadly!

There’s several key pets that I’m going to make sure you all get; also, there’s at least one location I can think of where you can easily tame ~3 pets all in one place. We might have to hoof it if you don’t have the way points so bring your running shoes!

As a gift to loyal ANET fans who have played GW1 for many years, there are a few pets that are only available to people with hall of monuments points (see the gw1 wiki “Kind of a Big Deal”).

That’s the Black Moa, Black Widow Spider, Rainbow Jellyfish, and the White Raven. They’re all actually gimped copies of pets that you can get in Tyria in GW2 because, as far as I know, they each have less vitality than their open world counterparts…so it’s more of a prestige skin—although it would be cool to run, say, two ravens.

I guess it takes a few hundred hours in gw1 to get 25 HoM points so I’m not sure if it’s worth the effort. Maybe a group of you guys could talk me into trying to get at least a few of them. Sadly, if someday the gw1 servers go dark…well, in that case, hopefully ANET gives other ways to obtain those pets. At the end of the day though, I wouldn’t really worry about it because there are many awesome combinations available to us.

It’s a shame that the Black Moa isn’t available normally. I love Moas, and that is by far the coolest looking pet in my opinion.

Awesome idea. And I also hope there will eventually be a way to get the four HoM pets without having to go back to GW1 to grind. I played quite a bit of GW1, but unfortunately just not in the ways that resulted in many HoM points; what points I do have are largely from the mini-pets from those birthday gifts and due to the M.O.X. Hero inherently wearing upgraded armor. Seeing the four grayed out icons in my Pets menu just gnaws at my OCD. :P

Yep this is for today. I’m hoping to have two or three full parties of rangers and just crush mobs in between us and our pets.

i think it’s a good idea but i’m only level 23 so i’ll have to pass

i did go to southsun to grab the reef drake today though so maybe i can manage other 80 areas with some nude running skills.

not too many people showed up, but it was fun running to the far corners of Tyria collecting pets! i made a whole level off just the explorer points and waypoints i ran past.

Yep, that was a blast. I’ll be here again next week if you missed it this time guys. And if you’re only level 20, no worries. We can escort you through higher level maps via various techniques (siamoth or any number of useful choices…); the goal isn’t to fight mobs it’s simply to meet new rangers, learn about the class, and have fun.

heh, yeah. don’t worry about being too low… i made the mad dash thru orr with scary 70-80 level mobs chasing me… and i was 51 at the time. XD bring your signet of the hunt!
